Thanks. Finding alternate switches shouldn't be a problem, just not sure if they would be the same size, as to fit in the existing slot.

It turns out it's a faulty on/off switch, so a relatively simple fix. I bypass the switch and it fires up every time. Thanks for the help. I haven't been able to find an online distributor in Canada for the part, so I'll check with my local pool store.

I just posted about my experience with adding DE to my sand filter, as I was also experiencing cloudy water for some time. My filter was doing the job but slowly so I thought I would give it a try. Wow! DE is working great so far after only a few hours.

The SWG chart didn't list a CYA level lower than 60, so I wasn't sure. The pool calculator is telling me i need to add 17 Litres of bleach to go from 5 to 16 FC. If I need to reach this level every day until the water clears up, that's a heck of a lot of bleach!
