Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

Don't know if it is a leaf basket, but since there is one pump for the cleaning system and filtering, there is a preliminary net and then the typical leaf basket on the pump. The net is needed because the cleaning system processes a lot of sand and pebbles.

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

Right. It's normal now. I don't run at 90% normally.

Sorry for the delay. Here it is. Not sure it helps.

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

I'm sorry I neglected to update the forum on the results. The project/field manager initially setup the pool. I naively believed he knew what he was doing. As I recall it took about 2 months but eventually the pool company owner (the expert) came out and looked at it and adjusted all of the...

New Pebble Sheen - Quality Concerns

    I didn't have cracks that I recall.

New Pebble Sheen - Quality Concerns

I didn't get a resolution. With water in it I don't really notice it. I've given up.

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

I did a brief search on Youtube for how to measure flow with a pool pump and didn't get a lot of answers. What is a practical way to do what you suggested and what equipment will I need to buy? Or is there a guide you can point me to?

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

That's what I thought I did. I went to this page (Contact Us Residential | Hayward Pool Products) and click on "Contact Us." Is there a different way to "file a claim?" Because that's how I got the response to take my pump in to a service center.

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

Thanks, I finally found the tag. The reply from Hayward was: That's a lot of work to cut pipes, disconnect the wires, and remove the unit when my PB could be correct that the noise level is normal. :poop:

Thanks, mine doesn't look like that. Aside from the one that says Tristar VS 950, the 2 labels are:

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

I struggled to figure out how to "make a claim" but after more digging found the contact support form. The place I was stuck they were trying to refer me to a service center, so I'll see what they say. Then I struggled to locate the model and serial number. I still don't think I have the right...

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

I don't know how to tell the RPM, maybe it says on the remote but I set it by %. Ambient noise level was 32dB, when I turn on the pump and hold the mic right above the pump it's just over 70dB. A few feet away it drops to about 60dB. It's a cheap app though, I'm not sure how they calibrate it...

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

I'm not sure it works like that. Their website say, "For direct, on-site product support, please contact your local seller or installer for assistance. If you need to schedule a service call or repair, you can use the servicer locator to find a local Hayward Authorized Service Center." Should I...

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

Sure. The installer did say something about neoprene washers but the pump does not appear to be attached to the slab, just sitting on it.

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

When it runs at a low percentage then it is quiet. I forgot to mention and edited the original post to state that this pump runs the cleaning system as well and must run at high % in order to clean the pool properly. If this is unacceptable, what is the best way to handle this with the builder...

Hayward Tristar VS 950 Pump Really Loud

My pool contractor installed a Hayward Tristar VS950 pump and when running at 80-90% produces a high pitched whine, kind of like you get with a shop vac. It has done this since day 1. In the night, this whine permeates my house and the dead quiet neighborhood. I have not yet installed a pool...

    Wire routing to motorized valve

Thanks for the comments so far. So is this typical for an installation of one of those valves? Do I have any grounds to complain about how this was done or is this "industry standard?"

    Wire routing to motorized valve

My builder installed a motorized valve and has left me with this wiring... They simply wound the wire around the pipe and routed it over to the control box. Is this industry standard? I would have expected a conduit to come up below the valve and route to the control box through the bottom, but...

New Pebble Sheen - Quality Concerns

They applied the Pebble sheen today. As I am not familiar with the process, I hope this can be fixed tomorrow before the next step and before it is filled. Is this something I should be upset about or am I needlessly worrying? If it can't be seen in the photo, the concern is the bubbles and...
