    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Wow, just got back from pool store. And they didnt try to sell me every chemical they had. Their numbers read all good. TA of 109 I had 110 Ph 7.8, I had 7.4. Before all the CL I put in. CL was off their chart i have it as 24 ppm CYA 35 I had 35. She said this number was low. She just sold me...

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Based on all my readings the only thing off is CH. It is low around 40. But other than that. I am not losing CL and ph and total alkalinity are staying in range. I can fix and clear 4 other pools on my block but mine is the the one that wont clear up. Frustrating for sure.

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Can too low of a Calcium Hardness Level effect clarity. That's the only level I really am not sure on since I have a vinyl pool. Pool is not crystal clear yet. It is really the most annoying pool opening in 20 years. The bottom is spotless but the water is just hazy.

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

I get 35 because it is right between the 30 and the 40, in the test vial Either way I am keeping it above shock level for 40 which is 16ppm. I bring it up to 20ppm at night and it loses 0 cl overnight. I lose 2-3 ppm per day in the sun with no cover on it. Maybe I will add more to get to 25...

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Ok I know I have been doing this method for 7 years and should just be patient. But it's been 2 weeks since opening the pool. And it is still not crystal clear. It has been improving but kinda stalled out. Numbers are all good. CL has been above 16 since last week. I increase to 20ppm when...

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Sun was out yesterday and I added DE to the filter to pick up the smaller particles. Had to backwash twice. All chemical readings are still good. Keeping FC above 16ppm. Thanks for all the help

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Changed sand yesterday. Kept FC around 20ppm No loss during OCLT. Will keep Slam levels until clear. Bottom of the pool is clean, no algae, been brushing 2 ties a day doesn't seem to increase cloudiness. Adding DE today, have to get some. Just wondering if the antifreeze and lack of sun (no...

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Got it. Thanks for all your suggestions. Will raise CL level and hold until clear. Maybe the sun will come out one day and we could actually use the pool! Haha

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

I had it up at 20 PM for 3 days with no CC and passed OCLT. So I figured it was a filtering issue

    Anti-Freeze making pool cloudy?

Moved from here. Can too much antifreeze returning into pool and no sun to burn it off cause your pool.to be cloudy even though the chemistry is spot on? I am planning to replace sand as well just in case it is a filter issue

    Hmmm robotic cleaner.... which one?

Has anyone heard of the Water Tech Pool Blaster Power Rated 3000? I just got an e-mail from the company that this unit is being sold for 50% off until June 15th. It comes complete with caddy and it offers top loading for easy cleaning. I can find no reviews online but looking at other websites...

    water loss confusion

I would definitely pull the cover off as soon as you can. This way you can see what may be going on. Could be a hole in the liner or it could be the bottom drain. Where does the plumbing from the bottom drain go? Is it leaking out of that end? Are there any wet spots around the oitside of the pool?

    Under cover Clouds

Kiss4aFrog your pool looks to be the exact same a mine. And by next week it will be open and hopefully clear. Have a great day!

    Under cover Clouds

Yeah I was getting concerned. but was glad that the chlorine reading turned out the way it did. I will check pH when I get a chance.with the water being as cold as it isI didn't think it could be algae but wasn't sure.

    Under cover Clouds

Well my curiousity was killing me so I dug out the test kit and checked the CL level. I had 4ppm FC and 0 CC. Still think I am opening it beginning of next week. Any other advice is welcomed! Thanks

    Under cover Clouds

Thanks Jason I just went out to check the water temp and it is a lovely 46 degrees in the deep end and 50 degrees at the surface. I had leaves and debris on my cover that I cleaned off and it is beginning to dry off. There is more water in the pool this year than my previous water levels when I...

    Under cover Clouds

It is early spring in PA and I was planning to open the pool in a couple of weeks as normal. I pulled a corner of the cover back this afternoon expecting the normal crystal clear freezing water but I have cloudy cold water instead. I can still see the bottom of deep end. So I put in a small...

Not opening to clear water this year!

I would also use your leaf net as much as possible to get the bigger debris out of there. After that let water settle and follow the previous posted instructions from Richard.

    Solar Cover Question

Chem Geek I knew you would have a scientific explanation of my question. Which is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much. I appreciate the education. I knew there was a trade-off on heating vs CL burn-off, but wanted to make sure. I am just getting everything ready to open the pool...

    Solar Cover Question

Thanks for the confirmation! I figured it reflected some heat as well as UV. I just didn't know if anyone did the experiment.

    Solar Cover Question

Does pool water get warmer on a sunny day with the solar cover on or off? I always wondered. I know the cover prevents CL burn off during the day and and prevents evaporation and heat loss during the cooler nights, but for simple heat transfer to the water does it reflect heat as well as UV rays?

    Too good to be true?

I will keep an eye on it. Fc levels were at 24ppm and i am keeping them high incase this is something else.I never open the pool this early because i try to wait until the trees are done flowering but i looked the other day and figured the water is clear I am opening now to avoid last years...

    Too good to be true?

Well used the TFP /BBB methods all last year and they worked great. Thank you very much for my new pool knowledge. I opened the pool last weekend and it was perfectly clear, best opening i have had with the mesh cover. Pool water clear and chems are perfect. But I have a little black "dirt" that...

    Fifth of July Haze

That is my intention, when I get some time. Since the pressure has been rising and catching some of the smaller stuff, I figured it was working, although slowly. Would you let the FC drop down or keep it around shock level?

    Fifth of July Haze

Yes, it has improved a little bit since yesterday. The filter is very slow and undersized. I am wondering if i should let the CL come down or keep it up around 20? I don't think it is algae. I don't think algae could have started growing in a pool with a 8popm FC before the bather load, but I...

    Fifth of July Haze

Well the OCLT was fine. My FC was 20 40 drops. the CC was slight pink 0.25ppm, 1/2 drop cleared it up. Filter pressure was up,backwashed and cleaned skimmer socks. they were a little dirty with fine particles the bugs and leaves were there too. I guess keep filtering?
