What to use to paint or cover old concrete around pool?

Hey everyone! We bought our house in 2020 that was built in 1974. The pool was put in summer of 76. While the pool and all the components are in great shape, the concrete has seem better days. I have spent the better part of 2 days pressure washing the dirt and grime off of most of it. However...

Opened again to BLUE! Thanks TFP!

Hey guys! This is for all you who are searching or have just now found TFP. For the second season in a row, I have closed my pool exactly how TFP recommends. Last March I opened to blue water, and without fail yesterday I pulled my cover off and loved what I saw. Crystal clear blue water. Trust...

Useful links for fellow Intex Pool Owners

Hey everyone. I need some help. I have a friend that has an above ground pool with vinyl liner. Its 28' in diameter x 4' high on the sides and 8' deep at the center. How can we figure out how many gallons she has? Thanks in advance!

    Super High CYA / Algae

I had the same issues last summer. Wasted thousands of dollars on shock and chemicals. After the mods here enlightened me on CYA levels, and proper water exchange methods, it completely changed the whole game. I did a 70% water exchange (took about 3 or 4 days and cost about $175 in water) but...

    Pool light fix

Thanks so much for this Texas Splash! I'll take a look at it when the water temp rises above 48° LOL because I'm pretty sure I'll have to be in the water to do this one. It will be great to have the light fixed though :) add a little ambience in the water at night.

    Opening to BLUE!

Honestly I think it was the fear of doing something major wrong and messing up costing tens of thousands that scared me to begin with. But honestly, this has been ABC with you guys. I just pulled my water samples tonight, and compared them with my test logs from 5 months ago. I STILL HAVE...

    Opening to BLUE!

Hey guys! Its April 3, and yesterday I pulled back the cover to reveal crystal clear blue water. There was quite a bit of leaves that I had to remove, but man was it good not to see green. Just want to say thanks to all of you who helped me last year with my swamp. Looking forward to a new pool...

Shop Vac wont blow bubbles out of main drain...where to buy a good blower for pool use.

Hey guys, I'm closing my pool myself for the first time. Mainly because I dont want to give my pool store any more money. $200 to close, I'd rather learn myself and not have to fool with them. When they closed it last year, I took detailed notes and pictures to ensure I could repeat it this...

Water exchange complete, now need to get rid of algae

Well, as I have exited slam, I have never saw this pool so pristine in my life. I just did my full weekly test on the pool and it's perfect. And what's unbelieveable is I did it for pennies instead of hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I seriously am indebted to you guys. I cant wait to be that...

Water exchange complete, now need to get rid of algae

I agree! It's getting there, but as I looked today there is still that fine dusting of algae. I just added more chlorine and tomorrow I'll vacuum to waste. I'll keep it up until its crystal! Water here is super cheap, cheaper than I expected. My water bill is normally around $50 a month, but I...

Water exchange complete, now need to get rid of algae

I have a Polaris three wheeled shark that really helps kick the algae up of the bottom. I dont think it will suction it off, if it did it would just go through the mesh bag it has to collect debris like leaves and sand etc. Would it be better to vacuum to waste?

Thanks my friend! I'll add chlorine and keep doing so until I pass the loss test. Awesome!

Water exchange complete, now need to get rid of algae

Ok guys, we have made significant progress. I cant thank you all enough. I see just a small dusting of algae on the bottom of the pool when I brush. My FC is at 12.5 (CYA is holding 40) so target slam FC is 16. Should I add chlorine to the pool until all algae is non existent? Also, once algae...
