Jump the pool, save the pool, gonna hurt the pool...shockless...shocked...

Woman jumps a Tesla 50 feet over the pool, saving the pool from damage. Ain't no way they extract it without hurting the pool or pulling it through the house. Luckily no one was "shocked" (battery/water) in the ordeal, except the shock of the driver and the homeowner. I'm shocked...

    FC Demand.

I had a thread last month with an unexplained FC loss...like low salt caused the cell to stop working. Added salt and I was in business. Now I can't lose FC to save my soul. 10-15% was working great. This week, still sunny and consistent weather, but FC was rising with cell at 5%. Tested this...

    Large FC loss...stumped.

I check FC daily and adjust SWCG. I don't always log FC and SWCG adjustment. FC is always between 7-11. SWG 10-20%. FC 36 hours ago was 9. Test this morning and FC = 5.5. We had rain last night, but about .1 inches. So I thought I got some stratified rain water in my sample even though...

Mesh vs. Fine Filters Dolphin S200

The trusty Dolphin DX3 that saw me through the SLAM that brought me to TFP died. R.I.P. Bought an S200 with both mesh and fine filters. I used the mesh filters when the mesh cover was on...seemed ok, kept coming back with junk. When I pulled the cover I switched to the fine pleated filters...

Dolphin S200 not up to snuff...alternatives?

Dolphin DX3 with bags, soldiered through original and only SLAM, finally bought the farm. Was 13 years old. R.I.P. Bought an S200 and it is OK, but does not clean the pool like the DX3. When I watched the DX3, it would suck everything around. The S200 gets some, but just pushes more than...

I knew I was Pool Stored when...

With the influx of springtime new members rolling in, oddly, I found myself astounded at the number of members that have been Pool Stored. I don't know why it struck me this year, after helping so many that have been pool stored in the past, and even having the username PoolStored, but...

Raypak 336A low flow, pressure switch failure mode...

Raypak 336A. Has worked for 3 years at 1600rpm. Started it up today and 1600RPM yielded "Water Sw Open" error, which obviously means the water pressure switch is open (low flow). Had to raise it to 1800RPM to close the switch. Two questions: 1) Is this a typical failure mode of the water...

Mesh safety cover evaluation and ??

Pool cover and spring pics attached. I BELIEVE cover is about 12 years old. When do you know the cover needs to be replaced from stretching? No holes, No seems broken. Had snow/ice I just removed before pic. Do springs wear out? If I replaced the springs, which are clearly >50% compressed...

Fuse Boxes vs. Breaker Boxes for Pump and Heater...

I was reading this thread: Help with pool light. In it @1poolman1 indicated "Since the 2010 National Electrical Code was published, pool pumps require a ground-fault circuit breaker." Yikes...I have a fused breaker box like this one, that is fed by a normal breaker in the panel. Being...

    Crack filler help…

I had my pool deck sand blasted and refinished with a hybrid acrylic/siloxane sealer (D1). After it cured I filled the cracks with Sika polyurethane self leveling. It failed, sika says it will not attach to acrylic sealers. Contacted Dec-o-seal and they said they had no crack filler that will...

Thank you @mknauss! 50,000 posts helping others!

To think it all started with this post in early November of 2014. Here is what Marty said, “We have never owned a home with a pool so Newbie's we are!” Almost 8 years later, Marty has now joined the 50,000 post club. I can only imagine the number of pools Marty has touched in 8 years. He...

    Funny, NOT Funny...close your gates!!!

Made my rounds to water some hanging plants. Keep the watering can under the sink by the pool. Walked out the gate (where I'm standing to take pic) to get to the other side of the house to water plants. Thought nothing of it. When I was done watering, I came back to this. Given the water...

Sealing deck after sand blasting...contractor recommends D1

Found the best guy in the area to blast, re-antique, and seal my pool deck. I'm used to using a hybrid Silane/Siloxane on concrete drives. He is recommending DecoCrete D1. I think I trust him, he has the best reputation. Here is the product...

    Suction side air leak

James, you are a genius. I have a REEEAAALLY slow suction side leak, tried shaving cream, nada, rebuilt 3 unions and 2 valves, TWICE and I can't find it to save my soul. How to remove PTFE lubricant from o-rings?

Replumbed the pool last year. Grabbed my Magic Lube and greased them up for the winter so they wouldn't dryout. Started looking at getting ready to open. Needed to relube the sand filter seal. Looked up what to use. Come to find out, the cord ring is not supposed to be lubricated. P*#l...

DX3 won't climb. Just sits on bottom and spins.

Dolphin DX3. Pool closed, just wanted to get leaves and oddly, lots of earthworms. It went around a bunch and boy did I get a sackfull. However, I noticed that it tended to go headlong into the wall and just sit there spinning. Tracks are old, but the foam donuts, that I think are used for...
