    pH adjustment

It is dependent on many factors. If you can't see the bottom, may take a week or two. To improve the speed, check and replace FC every 2-3 hours. The more often you check and replace FC, the faster it will go. Continue running the pump, and cleaning the cartridges regularly, this is good...

Adding CYA to pool for first time

Pouring granular CYA into the pool directly, or into the skimmer as recommended on stabilizer bottles, is not recommended as it takes a long time to dissolve and the granules can sit against the pool surface creating locally low pH levels...

Help! Just opened and not sure what to Balance first

Follow the process I detailed in the last post. After a short period of time, the chlorine will hold...when it does, you have no more ammonia and you can just do the slam process.

Help! Just opened and not sure what to Balance first

Yes. No, let's get 10ppm of chlorine and see if it maintains something close to 10ppm after 30 minutes. If not, add another 10ppm and test after 30 minutes. Rinse repeat. When the chlorine holds, add 20ppm of CYA and start the SLAM at the same time, using target FC for 30CYA.

First Time Using TF-Pro Salt - Some Grey Matter in Pool

First, get that FC up. Follow this...Link--> on pH...Use the "effects of adding" in pool math to determine how much to add to lower pH by .4. Do it in .4 increments. Some of us eyeball it, some measure. Some measure until they get a feel for it, then convert to eyeball.

Pentair Superflo single speed pump vs a Superflo VST variable speed pump

Good choice on the pump. SWCG is another issue. If there is any way you can swing the SWCG, it is MAGIC. I would fill in my pool before you would take my SWCG. I know, $$$, but SWCG is a game changer.

The other benefit is that it will run on 115v or 220v, you don't have to rewire the pad. Do you know what service you have?

No, they will be the same WRT damage and losing prime. If you are really worried, read this: https://www.troublefreepool.com/wiki/index.php?title=Skimmer_Guards No. The Superflo gives EXCELLENT service. It is made to run continuously, and because of the lower RPMs with the VSP, it just hums...

Keep running the dolphin and filtering. Do you have a vacuum, and can you vacuum to waste? This is your quickest option. Cartridge filters are probably the most difficult to clean up a big mess but it will work. Plan on cleaning your filters A LOT. Maybe every 30 minutes at first but it will...

They are all about the same quality. Get the cheapest 8mil you can find. No benefit to a thicker liner and they are harder to handle. Expect 1-3 years on the cover, depending on how you maintain it and your environment. I'm on year 4 with mine, but it is either on the pool or in the shade...

Pentair Superflo single speed pump vs a Superflo VST variable speed pump

There are three scheduled "speeds" and an associated time period that must add up to less than 24 hours. If you schedule speed 1, 2 and 3 to be 1400 (or whatever speeds you want for each), and the total of 1, 2 and 3 add up to 12 hours, the pump enters a paused state for 12 hours, then starts...

How often do you test your water?

Yes. I check about every 3 weeks or so. I usually only have to add salt in the spring and once in the late summer. Remember, unless you get lots of rain and have to drain (or have an overflow), salt doesn't go away. Just make sure you test before adding any salt. You will be surprised at...

How often do you test your water?

Not bad, the IC 40 is a bit high vs. retail, maybe 2-300 high, but you get the warranty, and they will hook it up and make sure it works. Labor is cheap for the work is reasonable. You can get the salt yourself for about $8 a bag at homedepot, which will save you about $100. Always test the...
