    Thank you everyone. 😊

    I added DE... Now what?

Now that I've added DE to my filter, do I just leave it there, or do I follow the instructions on the box and set pump to waste to dispose of it after it does its job? It seems to have cleared up the white powdery substance on the bottom of the pool. If I do dispose of it thru the waste cycle...

What's winter? I was born in Michigan! LOL @mknauss pretty much gave me my answer. We have a decision to make!

We're having electrical work done starting Monday. The entire electrical supply to the pool has to be replaced. I made a suggestion to my husband about turning the pool into a backyard pond. I guess we'll figure out what we want to do in the next couple days. Honestly, I'm so exhausted from...

Honestly I don't think I can do anything to get it ready because I don't have a working pump.

Welp! I've done everything I can for this pool this season. I've gotten to swim a total of 4 times. So a few days ago, the pump quit working. I've tried several times to restart it. Today when it started to restart I could smell smoke so I turned it back off. Since it's so close to the end of...

Cloudy pool, algae covered floor, no chlorine...

It rained again, and I vacuumed once more to remove a little remaining debris from the pool floor.. Added water and a jug of chlorine. Here are my numbers, after letting the pool circulate all afternoon: pH - 7.8 FC - 7.5 CC - .5 CH - 275 TA - 80 CYA - 30 Ok, I know I need to bring CYA up to...

I saw I could get 25 pounds for about $70. Would I ever use that much in a season though, and if I didn't, would it last through next season? Hopefully I won't need any more anytime soon, but there's a possibility that I will, because, after debating whether to use the liquid, or to take it...

I meant the granular. I will check my Lowe's and see if they carry it. Thanks!! Checked all my numbers tonight, since it rained, and since I've been vacuuming and had to backwash a little. Here they are : 07/24/2021 9:20pm FC - 0 CC - .5 CYA - 20 PH - 7.8 TA - 100 CH - 300 My hubby added...

LOL that's exactly what will happen I'm sure!! I haven't found CYA anywhere but Leslie's...YET! Where does everyone usually get that??

It's already sealed with the JB Weld. What would happen if water got in it, and how would that even happen, unless the gauge is defective? Well probably have the whole unit replaced before there is even a chance of that happening anyhow. ☺️

Thank you! Lowe's is a lot closer to us. We're west of Mineola. I may check for paint stores in Mineola. I appreciate the heads up! 😊

Ok we will check these out. It's going to be at least another week before we can get our electrical issues fixed and then we'll be able to get the pump and filter replaced. Thank you so much. I'll let you know if we need some other referrals. ☺️

Thank you! Ok I'll use the muriatic acid instead of the dry. Maybe the cracked plastic was a blessing in disguise, because I haven't used the dry acid, since the pump wasn't working. Hopefully what my husband did with the JB Weld will work. He applied it around the edge of the gauge and over...

I noticed some respirator masks the other day at, I think it was Lowe's, so I may just try one of those out. I'll take the dry acid back then, and get some muriatic acid. Is the liquid Cyanuric acid ok to use? Thank you!! :)

Oh wow, ok. The paint department at Home Depot just said it's not safe for use in pools, as far as they knew. I think the lady at the pool store was the one that said it had other stuff in it or maybe she said it was too strong, I don't remember. I'm kind of afraid to use the stuff again...
