So does the FC need to be at a certain level to add the CYA? I have this idea that if the chlorine is too low the CYA will stabilize the chlorine at the low level. Does it work that way or can they be adjusted independently of one another? It's sad that this is my 4th season with the pool and...

Let me try it this way.

I had to empty it because I always mess up the water over the winter and there was some serious staining of the plaster that required me to empty it and use muratic acid to acid wash the plaster.

Yeah, I think it is the iron. It was 0.19 when it was tested a few days ago right after I filled it. It is slowly working it's way out, my wife just sent me the picture above saying how it is getting bluer and bluer.
