    Pool light failure

How did you repair the cable? It's supposed to be water tight for high voltage and water reasons. Unfortunately, the screw head is recessed about 1/2" inside the light ring. I will have to drain the spa completely and drill it out I think. Sigh.

In ground pool and spa return

I have an in-ground pool and spa. I was trying to drain the spa water to the pool by setting the suction valve to spa and the return valve to pool. The spa drained and the pool level rises. However, there's still some water still coming back to the spa. Can the diverter valve completely shut...

Pentair or Intermatic... or something else for automation?

Re: Pentair or Intermatic... or something else for automatio I saw the multi-wave system from intermatic. I like the price but I'm not sure if it's talking to a variable speed pump over RS485 can it still control 5 loads? I have ISY-99i as well and trying to figure out how to control the...

    Replacing pump

Hi all, I received the pump and had it installed yesterday evening. It took 2 hours. Everything was smooth as silk, except I cannot get the old electrical conduit fitting to come off the old pump motor so I have to run to HD for a new one. Then eveything went together. Pump primed and was up...

    Replacing pump

    Replacing pump

Thanks to everyone. I'm going the pentair swapout. Hopefully, this will amount to just : (1) removing 6 nuts. (2) pull out old motor with old/impeller and old diffuser attached (3) slide in new motor with new impeller and new diffuser into volute. I checked that part number are the same for the...

    Replacing pump

After additional thoughts, I think I'll go the pentair route. I think I'll get the pentair VS 11018. If I can just keep the wet end and just swap out the dry end. Then everything is done. I can get a intellitouch controller later for future enhacements? any comments/advice. This forum is great.

    Replacing pump

jblauert, The utility co does not restrict where I buy it from. So on-line is fine. I do plan on upgrading equipment peicemeal later. I thought I'll start with the pump as it saves money on boot. They I'll add an automatic pool cleaner. Get my son to maintain the pool. add some automation...

    Replacing pump

blakej, everything else is old. There's room behind the current motor if the hayward is longer. I don't have any automation system. So there's no reason to stay with pentair. The rebate allows for owner install. So that's not an issue. Just wonder if it's something I can do over a weekend.
  29. H

    Replacing pump

Yes, there's a $200 rebate from power co. If I use a two-speed I need to add another clock. Additionally, I want more programmability and and remote controller that I can put it somewhere more accessible. The hayward has that feature included.
