The pump definitely doesn’t leak anything out of the backwash port. Yes, the stairs have been moved and get brushed every tine I brush the pool

    Cloudy pool

I appreciate all the advice, I truly do. Just been frustrated behind this pool and I’ve been reading and taking ppls advice, and it’s just fighting me back. I’m not losing over 1ppm overnight, so I’m assuming that means there is no algae present. Or at least I thought that’s what the OCLT was...

    Cloudy pool

This is the 3rd summer we’ve had the pool, but I’ve definitely never dealt with it staying cloudy this long. Usually it clears up within a few days or so. I just had to replace probably 2000 gallons or so when a hose on the sand pump cracked last week. I see you aren’t very far from me either 😁...

    Cloudy pool

I’ts just going to stay cloudy at this point. Wife and kid can get this summers use out of it, and then I’ll decide it’s fate afterwards. And that’s all I use is a drop based test kit. Have from day 1.

    Cloudy pool

I’m confused as to what you’re talking about for the most part. I don’t use a fountain, haven’t in probably over a year anyway. My FC is not 0. Far as the sand filter goes, I’ve been doing those procedures for nearly a year. The pool gets brushed twice a day and my FC is being kept at 16. Please...

    Cloudy pool

Took a water sample to Leslie’s and this is what they show. I dunno. I’m sick of dealing with this pool. In the 3 years of owning it, I have never had this hard of a time getting the water to be clear. It’s like a cloud fell out the sky and landed in my pool lol

40-50 is not high. 50 is what’s recommended.

    Cloudy pool

That’s why I’ve been keeping it at a slam level. But at nearly $6 a gallon, it gets expensive. My wife says this will be the last summer we’ll have the pool because I’m always saying it’s been nothing but a money pit 😂

    Cloudy pool

What I meant was dead algae making the pool cloudy. Nothing green in the water whatsoever and my OCLT numbers don’t reflect algae still being present.

    Cloudy pool

OK. I give up. I don’t know what else to try. Had to kill off algae in pool a couple weeks back. Water went back to normal, just had what I consider all the dead algae floating around. Upon others advice, I kept the pool at a slam level of 16. Nothing was changing. Took the sand pump system off...

    Cloudy pool

I honestly don’t plan on having this pool very long. It was a $700 Intex pool that went to Crud fast. Pretty much all of the metal has rust on it and the liner is completely faded out. This is only a 3yr old pool….TBH, if it wasn’t for my wife who basically uses it as a hot tub, because that’s...

As of yesterday morning: FC 3 PH 8.0 TA 120 CYA 10 (pool hasn’t been used since last summer) Haven’t don’t the OCLT. I have to pick up more liquid chlorine this evening. I’ll also get a pic of the pool water

    Cloudy pool

So I just spent days slamming my pool to kill off Algae. My pool is back to being blue, but it’s super cloudy. I’ve been putting DE in my sand pump skimmer in hopes to clear it up, but it doesn’t seem to be changing. Should I go out and buy a clarifier? Haven’t had this issue yet.

    CYA longevity

We are allowed to refill a pool once in a calendar year. I just had to do this back in June I believe, so they won’t comp this next refill. It won’t impact the bill too much though so I guess I’ll be draining it this weekend. I did purchase a 100ft backwash hose and a submersible pump vs using a...

    CYA longevity

I have plenty of chlorine so that’s not really a issue. I’m actually going to add some more this evening to bring it back up to 6 or 7. I bought a 100ft backwash hose and a submersible pump to make the drain process a lot faster. Again I guess I’m just trying to avoid draining and refilling so...

    CYA longevity

Ok. So my CYA is pretty high in my pool. I did the regular test and the test where you mix pool water and faucet water. My CYA is around 120-140. My pool is blue as can be and my FC is at 3. We won’t be using the pool again until around April or May. So my question is how long does CYA take to...

    Welp. Here we go again….

I’m just running a backwash hose off of the sand filter pump instead. Should only take about 3 hours to drain roughly 70% of the water.
  29. DonnieTheMan

    Welp. Here we go again….

Yeah. I’m just going to rent a sump pump and do about a 70% drain. I also have a 50lb sand filter system. Got tired of those paper filters a long time ago

    Welp. Here we go again….

Will do. I’ll just cover it up and wait till it’s opening season again
