    Tricolor and CYA

I know the CYA is low and just a guess. The lowering of pH doesn't concern me too much as I'm always fighting my pH as it is, and my fill water pH is greater than 8.2. Any advice for finding a leak?

    Tricolor and CYA

I have a small leak and am loosing about 1" water/day. While I try to find the leak I am having trouble maintaining my CYA. I was thinking of switching to trichlor until I get this problem fixed. My current CYU is 10 and I opened with 8# for a 25,000 gal pool 1 month ago. So, how much CYA...

New tub install - fresh fill numbers

I have read that thread...my concern with dichlor is that 1 oz only gets my 500 gal tub to 7.6 ppm of CYA. 4 oz with get CYA to 30 but is also adding 33 ppm of FC. It would probably take a month to need that much diclor. And along the way, CYA is low. Is CYA less of a concern because the tub...

New tub install - fresh fill numbers

After 11 yrs of IG pool ownership, I have finally broken down and purchased a new tub. I have the 500 HotSprings Grandee http://www.hotspring.com/Spa_Showroom_Hot_Tub/spa_model_grandee.html coming next week. I plan on running chlorine. My main question is whether I should purchase some diclor...

Heavy Chlorine Demand - was told to drain pool!

Given a CYA of 60, your "shock" FC target is 20 ppm and your min/max FC are 5 and 10 ppm. You should dose your pool to maintain the FC at 20 ppm until your night FC and morning FC (overnight demand) are the same number. Remember, that FC is broken down by the sun. So, if we measure it...

New Pool; New Water; How to add CYA

CYA=condition=stabilizer This is a stand alone product that can be purchased at Wal-mart, pool stores, online, or where ever pool chemicals are sold. It is a powder that needs dissolved. You can dissolve in a nylon stocking or dump directly into the skimmer (don't back wash for a few days)...

    Stray current???

The saga continues...my pool ladder had lost its connection to the bond and that explained the shock when grabbing the ladder...the pool deck (which is was not connected to the bond) was built to our local code in 2001 (the PB now bonds the rebar) and was putting out about 7 volts... The...

This drama is not to end soon. :grrrr: The electrician will come out Friday. I am still getting 2 volts on my deck. When I mentioned that I thought the NEC for the year my pool was built required bonding of the pool deck...that got his attention...he told me that he went back to the...

    Which should be done first?

If you are not having chlorine problems...you may consider leaving the CYA alone...just be aware of where your "shock" and minimum chlorine levels are...and dose accordingly Since your pH is also 7.8...I would lower the pH to 7.2 (but no lower) and let it creep up with your bleach...

    New Pool Owner Intro
