    Winterizing my AGP Intex

As long as there isn’t any water displacement and the ice doesn’t move after it latches on to the strainer cap, you should be fine. So just make sure you’re not losing any water during the winter/spring and thawing time. 👍

    Winterizing my AGP Intex

@chi-chi I originally wanted to do what Charliej did, but the tophat plug didn’t stay on as securely as I had wanted it to. Not only that, but keeping the strainer screwed on was the reason my pool liner tore up. The ice grabbed on to the strainer cap, and pulled it down when There was water...

    Winterizing my AGP Intex

@chi-chi I don’t have any photos, but I surely can take some. Basically I pushed the tophat plug into the hole from inside the pool to the outside. The wide round base of the plug is pretty much flush against the pool wall in the inside of the pool. Hope that makes sense.

    Winterizing my AGP Intex

Sorry I’ve gone MIA from this thread. Work has kept me busy and away from pool duty. Now that I have some more time off, I’ve listened to all of your advice and suggestions and tried to apply it to my situation. 1) I drained the pool about 2-3 inches below the jet (into the pool). 2) Chemicals...

    Air valve leak: solved!

I had the same issue. I bought the pool brand new early spring of this year and it had the aerator valve. It didn’t leak for the first 2 months of using the pool. Then I noticed a consistent stream of water dripping down from the valve everytime I turned my pump off. I originally thought that...

    Pool tear at inlet

I finally put the new pool up. Turns out the legs are still metal but the T-joints are made of PVC. They seem pretty sturdy. Oddly enough the legs of my new 18’ round are thinner/skinnier than that of my old 16’. Had me concerned, but it seems to hold alright for now. thank you all again for...

    Pool tear at inlet

I found it here. The info wasn’t 100% clear in the description but there was a question about what the legs were made of and the and a customer answered with PVC. I ended up biting the bullet and buying this exact one...

    Pool tear at inlet

Thanks to everyone for your input! It’s been priceless in our decision making! Now we are in search of a replacement pool and to my surprise we found that intex 18x48 is significantly cheaper than 16x48. The only concern I have however is that the legs are made of PVC instead of metal. I’m sure...

    Pool tear at inlet

Thank you Teald024! That makes sense. I’ll have to look for a new one then. Now I need to figure out what I did wrong when I winterized this one to cause such apocalyptic damage so I don’t repeat that mistake next winter.

    Pool tear at inlet

Thank you everyone to your input and suggestions! I didn’t think a patch could save this either :ROFLMAO:. Found a bestway pool on eBay that I’ll probably buy, but I did also seesome pool liners being sold that go on top of the original liners. What are your opinions on those and given my...

    Pool tear at inlet

Thank You AJW! I was hoping that wasn’t the case but assumed the worst. Now again I’m completely new to this so this may be a stupid/silly question: am I able to purchase a new liner to replace it and keep the original legs and pump, or does everything need to be replaced at that point? I just...

    Pool tear at inlet

Hello everyone! My wife Kim and I are new pool owners. We were gifted a Coleman 16’x48” used above ground pool last summer and we love it! Sadly with the NY winters not being very kind to us combined with our complete lack of knowledge of proper winterizing, we ran into a big issue. The pool...

    Hello from upstate NY

Hello everyone! My name is Aleksey. My wife Kim and I were given a second hand Coleman 16’ x 48” above ground pool last summer. We enjoyed every waking moment of it, but being completely unfamiliar with pools, we sure made some mistakes along the way...with plenty more to come...
