Pool resurfacing- white plaster vs Signature Matrix Wet Edge

I believe our polished WetEdge feels every bit as smooth as the plaster pools I’ve been in, atleast new. There’s a lot of blue glass in this color which helps a lot. I’ve never thought our pool was green.

Pool resurfacing- white plaster vs Signature Matrix Wet Edge

Heres sky blue treasure, same line as Grigio. Also couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend. Make sure to find a WetEdge certified installer.

I would think you’d be fine to brush that around so it dissolves fully into the water.

    New Plaster

Based on the logo on that bucket, they may be doing the orenda startup (google it), which involves adding a bunch of calcium and their SC1000 scale and metal control solution. It’s not a bad process, and shares some principals with the bicarb startup, but achieved in a different way. Keep a...

Pool is happy at 7.9 pH…do I fight it?

If you download poolmath you can pretty easily play with numbers and see what your CSI results in - just tap the CSI box and it’ll open a screen where you can see how different levels impact CSI. It’s helpful to play out some what ifs. Like over the winter when water was really cold I was able...

Pool is happy at 7.9 pH…do I fight it?

Yeah, you can check my pool math logs for CH. Last check at 450. CH raises CSI. High pH raises CSI. Higher temperature raises CSI. So high CH, pH, and Temp can equal high CSI. I added calcium in the winter to keep CSI neutral. It’ll creep back down. At pH 7.8, CH 450, temp 95 my CSI is still...

Pool is happy at 7.9 pH…do I fight it?

Pool is still new / getting ready for our first season (plastered in November). Over the winter pH has been super stable at around 7.9 (color between 7.8 and 8.2 on the K1000 and a repeatable 7.9 on a digital meter). If I was going off of the K1000 alone, about half the time I’d say the pH was...

Thoughts on gutter down spout tie-in? Would you be happy with this?

The teal blue (“green”) is designated for sewer pipe. Since some is white and some is that color I bet that’s what they had in stock. It’s Probably all the same schedule and not because it was cheaper….just what was available. I know last time I picked up 4” pipe all they had was sewer green in...

Who has opened their own pool cleaning business?

Around here service costs can easily run north of $300/mo. I keep trying to convince my FIL to start one but he won’t charge that much. He’s still charging a few people he services ~$100/mo. I keep thinking we could do something that send premeasured chemicals based on weekly water testing or...

    Marble coping - stain removal

@Cena_sea once you try the magic erasers you’ll never go back. It’s what our countertop installers recommended, actually.

My experience with a DIY "bubble wrap" Solar Cover

If you want to test this ... Harbor freight tarp that's large enough to sit on top of your coping. Weigh the edges down with sandbags or similar.

My experience with a DIY "bubble wrap" Solar Cover

if you can get a tarp that's the right size and it's not very windy in your area, I'd maybe start with that. A harbor freight tarp wasn't much more expensive then the bubble wrap, but was more durable / felt less ridiculous. but I'm not sure how much multiple layers are going to help....I'd...

My experience with a DIY "bubble wrap" Solar Cover

Just bunched it up. It was pretty easy tbh since it was split into lots of small strips it folded pretty easily. I recently tried a Tarp instead...that was a pain in comparison. However, I would not expect it to last very long. I'm not sure how much of a pain a regular solar cover is.... I was...

    Marble coping - stain removal

What have you tried so far? I'd think scrubbing with soapy water, magic erasers, that sort of stuff would get that out. You could try a low-pressure pressure washer (like a hose spigot). With oil stains you want to be really careful with pressure washing because you can send the oils deeper into...

    Marble coping - stain removal

If magic erasers don't work, I'd try to figure out what exactly it was stained with (mastic sealant shouldn't stain like that??) and figure out what would break it down. I know they make silicone sealant remover. Boiling water might also dissolve it enough.

    Marble coping - stain removal

I’m not sure if this will be heavy duty enough but I’m a big fan of magic erasers as a first line of defense for tough stains on marble and quartz. We use that on our indoor countertops with great results, and I’ve used it on my marble coping once or twice for things like food stains. You don’t...

A house divided: SWCG vs ozone+uv+Mineral sterilizer

As someone that was enamored by everything I was reading online about UV and ozone systems a little over a year ago…I’m so glad I followed advice of this site and went with the SWG. Regardless of whether you buy into the competing information you’ll find on google Vs these super smart folks...

    Gas Heater install $10,000?!?!

We did a heat pump instead of gas heater on our new build for similar reasons...the gas line alone was going to cost us 4k+, w/o gas meter or heater costs. Our pool is on complete opposite side of property from the gas meter, would've been a very lengthy run. Our PB told us that per foot, gas...

New TFT reagents, getting much different results

If you want to se if you are having the same problem I did…change out the tips. If your old tips don’t fit, rotate the tips you have. If the results change…you know there’s tip variance. Fwiw, my Chlorine readings went up to with the new kit, but in my case I’m pretty sure my reagents were...

New TFT reagents, getting much different results

No. I cannot. I stared and stared and stared. My eyesight is pretty good for things like this... under the right lighting conditions I can point out the imperfections in my wife's diamond on her engagement ring that the GIA says isn't visible to the naked eye (maybe it's a counterfeit! 🧐😅) ...

New TFT reagents, getting much different results

@Bperry it appears that this was 100% a tip error like what @Newdude said in the post above. It sounds like the bottle tip was more restrictive and letting less reagent out per drop. Before replacing the tip, the new reagents were showing 625+ on the CH scale. After replacing the tip, the same...
