    Goodbye pool and TFP

Today I sign the purchase agreement for a new (to me) condo. Unfortunately, that means this will be my last few months with a pool and checking in with TFP. The pool has been good and bad but overall, I’ve enjoyed it. The bad is that I spent a lot of money to install it in the hope that it...

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

After a couple days of running the filter, running the robot and keeping the chlorine up, it's starting to look pretty good.

First full set of tests for this year.

So, I cheaped out and got some salt test strips and they are consistent with my “old” reagents. I was at 1800, per my test kit (drops) and I added a bag of salt. Pool math said that would raise the salt by 400 so I should be at 2200. The test strips say I’m at 2400. Close enough. I’m still...

First full set of tests for this year.

Good point. I did put in a couple pounds but I won't put in any more until I do an OCLT. Thanks. I'll run the OCLT test tomorrow night. I think we're expecting storms tonight.

Point taken. What is the issue with adding the cya? Does algae throw off the test?

First full set of tests for this year.

I've refilled my other reagents, it just that the salt doesn't get tested that frequently so I've let it slip.

First full set of tests for this year.

Opened my pool a few days ago and added chlorine. Today I got around to doing a full test. FC 14 pH 7.3 (somewhere between 7.2 and 7.5) TA 50 CH 50 CYA 30 Salt 1800 Clearly I need to add stabilizer. I'll get on that first. I'll probably also get some salt in there. Not sure what to...

    Leak Repair

My neighbor, a jack of all trades, helped me glue up the new piping last fall. We followed the same path and I did turn over the SWG as was mentioned by someone here. Just opened today but it looks leak free.

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

Opened today. Doesn't look too bad in the picture, but there was definitely algae starting to bloom. Mostly just dirt. I have a mesh cover, so a lot of fine dirt gets in. All in all, not too bad. I got the pump running and dumped a couple gallons of chlorine in it and gave it a good...

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

Yes. But, I have a safety cover that lets rain water through it so the dilutes the water. I’m not sure if there’s any other reason the chlorine would get used up.

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

That’s how I see it. I stuck my arm in as deep as I could and got a sample. I was at about 3ppm chlorine and 7.2ph. Maybe not accurate but it tells me that there’s probably not much time before the chlorine runs out. That’s why as soon as I can, I’m going to get the pump running and feed it...

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

That’s basically what I’m going to do as well. Once there’s no chance of freezing and the ice is melted (I peeked last weekend and it’s about 3 inches thick), I’ll get the water pumping and hit it with some chlorine but keep the cover on until May.

What did you do to your pool today?

It’s a bit early to do anything with the pool here in Michigan but, we had a beautiful day and I did a couple things. First, I replaced a tie down spring on my safety cover. I got off line this winter and hit it with my snow blower. I clear a small path by my pool that gets me to my shed and...

    Hayward Recall

    Just got another email. :ROFLMAO:

    Hayward Recall

Never discussed a main drain. My guess now is that the builder gave my email when he registered the equipment and that they just put me on their list, as if I was a builder. Who knows. Thanks for the help. I really didn't want to deal with my equipment at any level as long as it's working...

Okay, that helps. Would I even have one of those in a fiberglass pool? i.e., Is that at the bottom of my skimmer basket?

    Hayward Recall

I got the following message today. Unfortunately, I can't figure out what's being recalled. Not sure if it's the entire pump or a part of the pump. Email below: Would appreciate any help. If it's just some elbow, I doubt I'll deal with it. The pump has been working fine for 5 years. If...

    What is this flap/gate for?

This small basket (sorry, I don’t know the correct term) is right before my SWG and right after the heater. The cover has a flap that I’m trying to figure out. The first time I took the cap off, the flap was perpendicular to the water flow, basically doing nothing. That’s the way it was...

    Leak Repair

I’m thinking of just replacing the diverter and basically rebuild from the SWG back. In the picture, I’ve circled, in red, the section I will take out. I have two blue question marks. First, what is the piece where a wire/sensor is going to. Second, what do I need to do to replace the...
