I completely agree about the entrapment protection. We did add a skimmer that hangs over the side. Next time we have to drain the pool down some we may add an “in the wall“ skimmer. Thanks for the input.

According to the Bestway pool set up, there are two suction hoses and one discharge hose.

We don't have a skimmer hooked up at this point. We have an "over the side" skimmer that we will engage once the plumbing issue is resolved.

My understanding is that any pressure between 10 and 20 is normal for this filter.

The filter pressure is a steady 10. No line obstructions. We detached the larger hose (going from the pump to the T) and put it directly into the pool to see if the smaller hoses were causing the problem but it made no difference. Rechecking the amps (before and after that experiment) showed...
