Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Good news, the overnight test showed no loss in FC. Pretty sure my loss during the day is due to my still high CYA, after draining 2/3 and refilling, of about 65, and sun.

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Hi. I have been running my pump constantly for the past 3 days. I would like to do a oclt tonight, okay to let my pump continue to run? The video on your site says to run it for 30 minutes before the Morning sample, but if it is running all night that’s okay?

saw your note about using CDX, that is what I had been using for over 4 years, and still got the slime.

    Conversion

Hi, I did a conversion from baquacil to chlorine this Spring. My pool was a hot mess when I opened it, as it had a pink slime issue last Fall when I closed it. If I could do it over, I would have drained it. Instead, I schlepped to the pool store and asked them to please take all my money and...

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

getting a little concerned as I tested just now and FC back to 1. It was a very hot day here today, so hopefully that caused it. I used pool math to determine how much to put in to get to 9 FC and did that (about 210 ounces). I'll test now to see what it is.

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Okay, new and somewhat bad test results this AM. FC = 1 CC = 0 CYA = 60/65 PH = 7.5 water temp 68 Had a good amount of rain yesterday and in the AM I put in another gallon of chlorine as I was at around FC of 3.5 Advice? Putting liquid chlorine in it now to get going and keep it from bloomin'

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Did the test. This AM no loss in FC. When I went to bed it was FC level of 3.5 which was less than when I first did the test after filling and adding a gallon of the chlorine (FC was 5). BUT, it didn't go down overnight which is good. I am now going to put in the required amount to get it to...

But is the FAS DPD test the one with the powder in the t100 kit?

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Yes, we did convert that way. I can run that test but can't find the test directions at Extended Test Kit Directions – Trouble Free Pool. Clicking on the extended test link just brings me back to that page. Not sure what I am using to do that test with. I have the T-100 kit

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Hi, thanks for the quick replies. I can't seem to find a way on the pool math app to figure out how much liquid chlorine to add in order to get to 7-9 ppm. Do I need to add values somewhere first? I don't have premium access and I think I already added some tests an hour ago before my...

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

OKAY, fill is done. Before I did anything, other than running the pump for 30 minutes, here are my test results: FC .5 CC 0 TC .5 CH 400 TA 140 CYA 60 (yeah, was 110 before) PH 7.5 I put a gallon of liquid 10% chlorine in the pool then tested chlorine 60 minutes later: FC 5 CC 0 (?) TC 5...

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Okay, refill has started. While that happens should I soak my DE cartridge to clean it? If so what is recommended to use. I put a gallon of liquid chlorine in the pool while filling

Hi, at this point since I am almost done draining down to 1/3 of the water, I will post results once I get it filled back up.

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Hi, draining process has been going on all day. I should have it down to having just sllightly more than 1/3 of the water left tonight. Okay to leave it like that overnight? No strong winds expected. I hope I'm doing this right, as I am measuring how much to take out by how high the water...

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

By drain at winterization do you mean drain it down before I cover it, and then just put the level up to where I normally have it when I close it?

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

To keep it sanitized if I don't drain, I assume I need to keep my FC between 3 and 5 all the time as well as my PH proper. Might not be here for 7-10 days in late August and not sure if I am going to ask my son to keep putting the liquid chlorine in. I've needed to put about 1-2 gallons per...

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

I have to ask, if I don’t drain the pool 2/3 and refill, will this CYA level diminish over time? My wife was ask8ng that if we just maintained the pool for the next 6-8 weeks of the pool season (whigh is when we’d cover it), then winterize and do this in the spring will the level decrease? Or...

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Haha. Nope, haven't used calcium stuff for over a year. No idea why the level is so high. Should I test my tap/fill water before I refill? I haven't drained yet, need to time it right. I am keeping the FC level up by using liquid chlorine, may not be able to start until Monday.

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Does it make sense for me to test the tap water that I fill the pool with before I drain? What happens if the CYA level is high in that water?

Just converted from baquacil to chlorine and have been told I have a chlorine lock

Hi, my pool is very clear, not cloudy at all. I am still struggling to understand why it is now holding chlorine now that I'm using liquid chlorine the past 3 days. Is that because the pucks I have been using were just increasing the CYA? I obviously can't continue to just pour liquid...
