    MSP / MPP

Hello. 1) While TRYING to work with my PB and Hayward on some odd and transient COMM and low voltage alerts, I noticed that my Omnihub only shows an MSP and not an MPP in the SysInfo display. Is that normal? I don't see a way to scroll for more info- I was thinking maybe it was on the next...

    Help with test result interpretation

I just put it out there. It's REALLY windy right now, so marking the current pool water level was a little iffy.

    Help with test result interpretation

Just checked the fill water - it's from the municipal supply - and it's 20-30ppm CH. I also re-checked the salt and it read 3000ppm - i did NOT add the 2nd bag yesterday. I contacted the PB. They've asked me to cut off all equipment and mark the waterline with a pencil mark on the tile. Then...

    Help with test result interpretation

Hello and thanks. I just noticed a big drop in salt and CYA and I'm asking for help with interpreting what I'm seeing. This is a new pool with a cartridge filter and I have never drained water. 320lbs of salt were added on 9/28 and the SWG was started. I'm testing with the Taylor 2006C+Salt kit...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

This morning I'm at FC=11. I'm using a 10mL sample, for the first time I decided to try 1 dipper of the DPD powder and compare it to 2 dippers. 1 dipper = FC 10.5; 2 dippers = FC 11. I had the SWG running at 60%; I've moved it down to 50% and will continue measuring. I'll target FC = 8. I'll...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

Ok, so no SWG schedules - just leave it on and adjust output. For the pump, find the min RPM necessary to get the SWG running then bump it up a few hundred RPMs. Can I run scheduled cycles to force a higher RPM a few times a day to help with skimming - or is that nonsense? I need to refresh...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

I need to find a better balance with the testing AND acid additions. As of now I'm adding ~13oz of MA every day. I know I'm still breaking in new plaster...but I'm hoping to find a better balance with the pH.

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

I believe you are describing my situation perfectly - I'm over complicating it...story of my life :) The PB set my min pump at 40% - I need to read the book and figure out how to reduce that in the OmniHub (it's not in the readily available settings), then find the min pump setting that will...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

You've had me going down rabbit holes of SWG specs, and arguments about pump run times for the last few hours. I feel that I'm stuck in analysis paralysis - which is when I turn to people with experience - people like YOU. Should I look to run the SWG in minimum 3 hour windows - or at least...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

Thank you for the SWG link. What I'm trying to accomplish is a balance of skimming throughout the day while reducing power consumption. This is my first pool, I'm still figuring it out. Even with ALL of the very helpful information on this site, I'm still a newb with 0 experience in...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

PoolMath Logs In looking at the pool math logs I can see that I didn't add ALL of my results to the app every day. I'm keeping a notebook with the results. I've updated my signature to include my test kit - Taylor K2006-C + K-1766 salt, all chems are well within their expiration dates. Once I...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

I try to run as close to the TFP recommendations as possible. My CYA is ~65ppm and I do use PoolMath. The SWG has been running for 3 weeks. I was testing twice daily when I first started it up; I've been testing every other day for the last 2 weeks. It has held 5ppm with no changes to the...

SWG has suddenly reduced Chlorine production

Hello. I have a Hayward 925 SWG. It's been running for about 3 weeks, and I finally nailed down the schedule to keep me at an FC of 5ppm. The SWG runs for about 4 hours/day at 25%; broken into 2 cycles. Our heater has been in place since the build, but just recently got the gas hooked up - we...

    Pump + SWG Timing

I still need to get my CYA up another 10ppm. Are you also running borates?

    Pump + SWG Timing

I'm still averaging 12oz a day of MA and averaging ~7.5ppm FC. Even with one of the 5 hour cycles disabled on the SWG, it's still HIGH FC. I'll shorten the current cycles down by 1.5 hours each.

    Pump + SWG Timing

I have a few questions about getting the pump run time and SWG settings correct. I'll get you up to speed first. Pool has had water in it for 7 weeks. Salt was added last Friday. Hayward recommends 3200ppm, and the pool is sitting at 3200ppm - verified using Taylor k-1766 and pool store...

    Construction complete...then no instructions

I do have the recommended test kit - Taylor 2006C + Salt. CYA test is still pretty clear - the black dot never disappears. This morning FC was 3.0. Today was a REALLY sunny day. At 4:15pm I got a sample of the water - FC was 2.6ppm. 2 weeks ago the PB said they would adjust for TA once the...

This morning's results are representative of the last 6 days - with the exception of the pH, which I'm adjusting every other day pH = ~7.4 FC = 3.2ppm (the morning after I shocked it, it was 7.4) CC = <.2ppm TA = 40 CYA = 0? The water doesn't get cloudy at all, only CYA from the tablets has...

We are now three weeks into our new pool - and the chemistry seems to be settling somewhat. The 1.85 HP pump is still running at 80% for 21 hours a day - they have it programmed to run from 6am-3am. I didn't want to change it while they are still managing things. At 80% power and the sheet...

Great replies, thank you! This morning's results pH = ~7.3 FC = 3.6ppm; CC .2ppm TA = 30ppm CH = 160ppm (if I went from 90 to 160 in a day, that's 70lbs..so he added around 12lbs of Calcium Chloride?) CYA = perfectly clear Chris - which Hanna Phep tester are you using? I really think a...

Pool guys came today; cleaning guy and chemistry guy. They were very thorough in their testing (also had a Taylor kit). They added 2 tablets to the floater, and left me what I BELIEVE will be enough to finish out the month - the tablets DO have a stabilizer built-in and they did NOT add any...

HermanTX - I do have the Salt Kit add-on on the way - it's been "on the way" for 2 weeks. I won't need it for another 3 weeks, but now I'm glad that I ordered it early. That's a good point about the HTH shock raising CH - that's also why I've been careful about avoiding anything that already...

Last night I added 1 bag of HTH "Super Shock" that treats 13,500 gallons. 30 minutes later I added 13oz of MA. Pool supply place didn't get the chlorine tabs yesterday. I hit 3 walmarts, a Lowes and a Home Depot - no tabs anywhere..but I did find the HTH shock, so I grabbed 2 bags. pH = 8+...

Thanks for the replies and support :) Today's values @ 8am ET (and my interpretations of corrections needed to reach Taylor's recommended values for a gunite pool) 1) pH = 8+. Acid Demand - 2 drops still shows 8+; 3 drops showed ~7.2 (My daughter and I agreed on the color). ~27oz Muriatic Acid...

New to TFP, gathering quotes for a new pool

Here's the 2nd quote. It's from a "Nationally Recognized" PB that gives a "lifetime" warranty on the shell and has houzz awards, Angie's List, etc. The price is significantly higher, and both representatives were VERY high pressure - which is an immediate turn off. There IS something to be...

New to TFP, gathering quotes for a new pool

We contacted 7 PBs, but only 4 came out for a site visit. The other 3 just sent "sight unseen" quotes. Of the 4 that came out, 3 actually provided an estimate...but we had to update one of the quotes and they never got back to us. I'm waiting on a final copy of the quote from one company, and...
