Accidentally Lowered My Water Too Far

Just a question as a new TFP member who is pro-phosfree. Is this a case where having 0 phosphates would help avoid or slow down and give more time before an algae bloom?

    Adding Soda Ash

I want to thank you guys for introducing me to Borax. I’ll give my soda ash away to someone else that may be able to use it.

    Adding Soda Ash

Had success with my first time using Boarx 20. Do I have to add to the skimmer or is this something I can just add directly to the pool itself? I couldn't find anything on here, and everything on YouTube had the Borax added to the skimmer.

    Adding Soda Ash

I think I I’m getting the hang of it….slowly I just added 1 pound of borax 20 to hopefully bring the PH up to 7.5/7.6 added hardness early this morning, and that worked as it was supposed to. I know this may be a stupid question…but my dad when he had his pool while I was younger from my...

    Adding Soda Ash

I think I’m getting it now. So the app itself isn’t for “everyone”. It’s for pools based off SWG. I need to mess around with my numbers to go with what I have. trial and error. I think I may make the switch to borax over soda ash, see what happens and go from there. Thanks everyone.

But if the numbers are where they should be why the change? Sums it up easy. Thanks Do borates go away on their own? Or get diluted/go away when refilling or vacuuming? This is a new item for me

    Adding Soda Ash

I got some good feedback and advice on another post I made about sodas ash. I’m not sure if my signature shows (posting on my phone)….but, I heard Borax is a good alternative to Soda Ash. When I plug into the “effects of adding” it shows that it will raise a BOR reading in the pool. I use tabs...

    Adding Soda Ash

See this is where I get lost with the TA and PH….if I am reading the baking soda bag right. if PH and TA is low add baking soda If TA is where it should be or it high it calls for soda ash and not baking soda

    Adding Soda Ash

I tried aeration for a week and got nothing. Had my jets facing up, if I had to add water I use my old flosser head for cartridge cleaning and made a ton or air bubbles. no luck, that’s why I went to soda ash. App said to use 5 pounds. I put in about 4,

    Adding Soda Ash

Thanks me for this. I’ll check everything out. Just have never had a problem before with cloudy water with the stuff I use, and since I turned to the TFP app this is the second big chemical add other then stabilizer. The stabilizer math all checked out, just didn’t know why the soda ash did what...

    Adding Soda Ash

I’ve been using pucks for 8 years, my CYA only goes up when I do a massive shock. Only time I’ve had to replace water is when my wife insisted on putting 4 lbs of shock when we opened last year. Needless to say, I’m not letting her win those battles anymore. I’m just trying to figure out how...

    Adding Soda Ash

So what you are sayin is TFP really only works if you have a SWG? I mean….why can’t I just maintain everything with the chemicals I have? If I pick the drop down menu with the chemicals in the app it should still work?

    Adding Soda Ash

The levels were low because I was going off of Leslie’s tests after opening the pool Memorial Day. The app had crashed and was frustrating me so I downloaded TFP app. The number on the app made sense to get to, so I added and adjusted the chemicals as needed. Hadn’t had an issue since. It’s when...

    Adding Soda Ash

I appreciate that and I will check into it. I’m confused though because all of my results for tests are where the app says to be? I haven’t had a change in chlorine in 3 weeks. I keep the floater full. The only thing I have added based on the app was 4 lbs of dry stabilizer to bring my CYA from...
