Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

Thank you, @ajw22 , @duraleigh , @HermanTX , @Rocket J Squirrel , @BowserB . My leak has been solved. It was the seal in the pump. It failed a bit early, I'd say, as it's only been installed for 1.5 years. I appreciate all of the input!

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

Thanks for your responses. I apologize for taking a week to write back. @ajw22 Here's a picture that I took a while ago. Sorry it doesn't show more. I'll try to take some better pics this weekend and update this thread. Let me know if there's something specific you'd like to see. The pump...

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

I've listened carefully at my skimmer and nothing is there. I'm afraid it might be underground between there and the pad. Do you, @ajw22 or @duraleigh have any further suggestions? Do you know a reputable leak detection company? I'm afraid that this can get expensive but I need to figure this...

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

@HermanTX Thank you. I tried this today and heard no change in the leak sound. Excellent idea though, and I believe that if the leak was at the pump, this would have revealed it. My fear now is that the leak is further down the suction side. I've been using a mechanic's stethoscope to help...

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

So I tried switching out the lid and o-ring from the other 1.5 year old pump, AND I lubed it with the Magic Lube II. Same deal. New video/audio: New video by Mark Romans I have not disassembled/lubed my filter o-ring though because my gut tells me it's at the pump, which is where that obvious...

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

The order has been placed for Magic Lube II. Thank you. I've got no leaks but I would like to lube it next time. I heard no air seeping this evening but I'll keep an eye on it and try another lid if I hear it again.

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

Oh, very good to know, thanks @Rocket J Squirrel . I have another pump that might have the same lid. I'll switch 'em and see. Question, if I had a leak at the big o-ring on the filter, would it not spew water as well as suck air when off? What is the recommended o-ring lube for that big...

Must bleed filter daily, leak sound at pump

Hi all, I recently did an end of season filter cleaning and everything went fine. Since then or possibly before, I'm not sure, I have to bleed the air out of my filter every morning. At night, when it's quiet, I can hear gurgling at the filter. Around the pump I hear a sound like air sucking...

CYA confusion with covered SWG pool

Thank you for the quick responses. Much appreciated. @ajw22 , I have read that some people increase the SWG to offset bather load, which I assumed uses up chlorine. It's my attempt to keep the level constant. If it's not recommended, I won't. I'll get 20-30 CYA in there and target 3ppm FC. (y)...

CYA confusion with covered SWG pool

Great. Thank you. Can I put in 30 CYA and then calculate my min FC with 4.5% of CYA? Then is there a percentage for calculating "ideal" FC with a SWG? What CYA amount would you recommend I use, keeping it to a minimum? We don't use the pool very much. When we do, I plan to get in the habit of...

CYA confusion with covered SWG pool

Hi, I initially (last month) had no CYA in my SWG, fully covered almost all of the time pool. Have had clear water and no problems and pool is one year old. It's been recommended to me here (TFP) that I need at least some CYA even though my pool rarely sees the sun. I'm curious why the FC/CYA...

    Zinc ball

Ok, thanks, but I was meaning to ask if this is normal wear for a zinc ball, and if not, if I should be concerned about electrolysis?

    Zinc ball

Hi, Is it okay if the zinc ball that the builder left in the skimmer looks like this after a year?

My first test with the TF-100

Ah, ok, thanks guys. I'm starting to get it. When I turn on CSI and TEMP, my CSI says .07. PoolMath seems to like that. Wireform, I'll try to bump CSI down a touch to keep it negative. I'll get some CYA in there and soon I'll have a routine for MA and SWG percentage dialed in. Hopefully that...

My first test with the TF-100

Thank you, wireform, for the detailed response! Very helpful. And mguzzy for the solid clarification. Sorry, I'm a noob....PoolMath did not say to SLAM. Did I miss something? Please let me know. Not something I want to do if it's not needed. I re-tested today after adding MA yesterday. Things...

My first test with the TF-100

Hi, I received my TF-100 today, did some testing, plugged everything into PoolMath, and here's what I've got. FC=3 CC=.5 (?) pH=7.8 TA=100 CH=525 CyA=5 (?) Salt=3000 (Intellichlor) Temp=in the 80s I was pretty confident about my FC and pH numbers because I've been testing regularly. I added...

Calculate pool volume with integrated spa?

Hi, While I wait for my TF-100 (ordered it last Friday), I want to get a better idea of my updated pool's volume, especially because we added a spa within the dimensions of the original rectangle. Please see the pic attached. The rectangle is 30 x 14.5, 8.5 deep and 3.5 deep The spa is about 8...

I have some work to do.....

Ok, I'll wait, and not do the Fresh n Clear either. I'll leave it uncovered for a couple of days, but will that affect my CyA? I prefer it covered but I'll do what I gotta do. The SWG has been up and running all year and I've got it dialed in, as far as my limited tests show. I'll post back...

I have some work to do.....

Hi, My pool is always covered. So no CyA, correct? Zea3, I have a SWG and my chlorine is dead nuts according to my test kit right now. I asked specifically about the Fresh n Clear. They said I need to make the Free Chlorine match the Total Chlorine and that's how to do it. I definitely felt...

I have some work to do.....

....before I get my footing. I just introduced myself in the TFP intro section and have done some reading around here. I'm excited to start doing this right, even though my time is limited (like many of us). This is my first post. I just had my pool fully redone a year ago. I've been testing...

    Hello!

I'm not new to pool ownership but just have had my pool redone and now need, more than ever, to care for it correctly. I'm excited to have found this website. It is exactly what I've been looking for. Here we go, I'm gonna start posting!
