That’s crazy. Lowe’s and Home Depot have them in stock all of the time here. I buy at Lowe’s because I can get 2 gallons of 10% for only $7. You might need to make a trip down here. 😉

I did this after I replaced over half of my water at the beginning of the season. No algae. Others here have noted they use roughly the same amount as me, so I’ve not thought twice about it until your post.

10% 3.5 Gallons a week is 1/2 gallon a day - about double what you are using. We swim in the pool almost every day. I always try to buy something that has been put on the shelf in the last 30 days. Yes. Phoenix.

Does anyone in the Phoenix, Arizona area have a place they recommend for chlorine bottle exchange? I currently recycle my 1 gallon containers, but at 3.5 gallons a week it still feels so wasteful. It’d be great to have a place to pop in and exchange.

The DE filters to a smaller micron than pool sand.

I’ve tried it twice now, each time after I backwash the filter (which I do on Saturdays). The pressure does not increase even over the span of a few days.

I followed the guide, but even after two full cups of DE the pressure in my filter did not rise at all. The guide didn’t really indicate whether going beyond two cups was safe or not, so I have not tried any more than the two cups. Why am I not seeing any change in pressure after adding two...

I read through this thread - super helpful. I’ll keep sticking with 10% given the heat here in AZ. I have to store my chlorine in the garage which hovers in the low 90’s during the summer days.

That makes sense. I just bought this bleach this week, but who knows how long it was sitting at the store.

@mknauss yeah, I posted wrong info. Here’s how it should have read (with changes in bold): I did another 25 mL test a couple of hours after putting in the recommended amount of bleach to hit my SLAM target of 16, and it was at 13.6. The morning sun has also been on the pool for an hour (ish)...

My boys will want to know, is it safe to swim in it while doing a SLAM?

Do you mean just a single bump to SLAM level?

My morning 25 mL FC resulted in 3.2. Looks like I have some funk growing. Time to SLAM.

Okay, I did a 25 mL sample and my FC is at 4. Should I raise it and test again for a control, or just go with that and see where I am at in the morning?

How does this impact the amount of regents I use? Do I just multiply everything by 2.5?
