    Another mudslide

Huge storms only seem to roll through when my yard is under construction. 2 years ago it was so bad that I said screw it, drained the pool and replaced the liner. It had to happen anyway. A week ago... It happened again. This time I decided on a partial drain and... Aluminum sulfate. And I've...

    Quiet booster pump recommendations

Just replaced my main pump and am quite impressed with how much quieter it is than my old single speed. Now I want to replace my booster pump (powers a polaris quattro pressure side cleaner) which is LOUD. Any recommendations?

Just unboxed a Hayward 1.65 VS Pump

No. I'm just fat fingering on my phone. Yes they are 1.5" lol.

Just unboxed a Hayward 1.65 VS Pump

I'm not a huge fan either. However, it was like this previously for years. So I'm no worse off than before in that regard. My pipes are 2.5" by the way. Maybe I'll take your advice and try gluing a 2.5" to 1.5" reducer to it. But that's a job for next weekend. I'm done!

Just unboxed a Hayward 1.65 VS Pump

Thanks for the suggestions. Relocating the pump on the other side of the return valve would have put it right in the middle of the bathroom area of the pool house. It's not the best setup but I didn't design it. I ended up getting it all squared away though. I did end up having an...

Just unboxed a Hayward 1.65 VS Pump

I think it's time to call a professional 😭 Had to replace my old Hayward single speed pump with a variable speed today. Problem is this pump has a larger footprint so the configuration of it and my booster need to change. The image shows how I plan to have these things fit. A few questions...

    Pool vacuum head recommendations needed

I was looking at that. I was turned off because it looks too much like the one I have. Ha! I was looking at this as well. Any issues with metal flaking or wheels falling off? You use it in vinyl too?

    Pool vacuum head recommendations needed

My pool vacuum head is pretty crappy. I bought this one and it's falling apart. Any recommendations on a better one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08S7G2L75/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_G2FZQPRW5NBDBDCWYP3X

    Pool return direction

Sorry if I'm being a pest, but i have tried all suggestions so far, with the exception of buying eyeballs with smaller holes. My skimmers still are not skimming the entire surface of the pool. Any other ideas? Very frustrating.

    Pool return direction

They're plumbed on the same line and both catching debris. Main drain is open maybe 5%. I've played with water levels and watched the sucking action of each skimmer and I believe they're optimal. One thing to mention is one skimmer seems to sit about a half inch to inch lower than the other...

They're not now. And apparently the skimmers aren't moving much of it around either.

    Pool return direction

They are. I only adjust them to point up and out to push the floating scum toward the skimmers because that seems to be the only way to avoid using a net on half the surface of the pool daily. Water level is about halfway. Clarity has improved a ton. I was slamming already when I posted this...

    Pool return direction

Still struggling a bit here. Good news is the deep end of my pool seems to be clearing up toward the bottom of the pool. Less hazy. Not crystal clear yet, but an improvement. I attribute this to adding DE more frequently to my and filter and the return jets pointing down vs up. I'm still very...

    Pool return direction

So, I'm wondering if I'm experiencing a suction issue. Debris in the pool floats past my skimmer unless it's floating very close by a skimmer. I just recently replaced a bad pressure guage that always read 10 Psi. Now I'm consistently at 17-19 psi. How can I tell if the suction is my issue?

    Pool return direction

Decisions, decisions... I really feel as though my returns were oddly placed based on the shape of my pool. Stuff is always getting trapped at the stairs. And I can't seem to get that circular current going that others talk about.

    Pool return direction

Hi, just checking to see if anyone might have any other suggestions. I've reverted back to pointing my returns upward because that seems to be the only way to push pollen, leaves and needles toward my skimmers. For the record, the skimmers do pull junk nearby into the skimmer, but it isn't as...

    Pool return direction

Yep just double checked both. All 3 ping pong balls are still floating around the pool. 2 are glued to the same spot against the wall that they were 45 minutes ago.

    Pool return direction

I should mention I adjusted the main drain so it is only slightly open

    Pool return direction

Hmm. I'm now pointing all 3 jets to the right at a 45 degree angle down. And I've been watching 3 ping pong balls hover above the returns for the last 10 minutes or so. Could it be that my water level is too low? I've also got what I can only describe as a cyclone above one of the returns...

I'm really struggling to get this whole pool moving in a circular motion. Down and at a 45 degree leaves the surface almost completely still

    Pool return direction

I've been battling cloudy water in my deep end. I am SLAMing, but I really think I've been creating a lot of my own problem by not circulating my pool properly. I've always aimed my pool returns directly at the skimmers opposite the returns. To make matters worse, I leave my pump on 100% skimmer...
