Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Copy all. I’m a data and spreadsheets type of pool owner so I’ll be doing frequent tests until I can determine a meaningful testing frequency.

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Yes, in the future I’ll put my orders through TF Test Kits. I figured a K1766 is a K1766, but maybe not or maybe I this one’s a dud from the factory. Unlike other tchotchkes I suppose it matters how you store this one. Anyways yes I plan on creeping up to the target now. I’d hate to overshoot...

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Ok interesting. Good to know. Is that to say you don’t think the tap water actually has that much salt in it, or is it because the softener removes it?

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Ok so results are in: Pool store 2, Tracer pocket tester salt pen - 2450ppm Pool store 2, AccuBlue - 1792 ppm Pool store 2, K1766 - 2600ppm My new K1766 purchased from pool store 2 - 2600ppm So I guess my K1766 from Amazon is bad (figures). This was an out-of-cycle purchase for me...

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

While we’re waiting for me to get a salinity test at a second pool store, can anyone please help me find where it says how much salt is in the water from our water quality report? Is it the table entry for “sodium”? https://www.calwater.com/ccrs/rd-dom-2022/

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Ok that’s a really interesting question. When I first dumped the salt in I noticed it was dissolving into a concentrated brine pool at the bottom. I could tell bu taste and temperature as I swam along the bottom. I have one of those Hayward skimmers that is plumbed to the main drain, so you...

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Ok I went to Leslie’s for the first and hopefully last time. I attached their results from their do-it-all-with-one-tiny-sample AccuBlue machine (reminds me of Theranos Edison), and I also ran a full TF100 panel at the same time and wrote them down. They say 2200 ppm salt. My regular store -...

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

I attached a copy of the literature sent with the cell. The combination of lights it’s giving me should only be for salt levels <2600ppm. It says 3200-3400 should be fine, and indeed on the cell itself it says 3600ppm optimal.

South Bay salt works in Southern California sells solar evaporated salt in 50 pound bags for about 25% less than name brands so I went with them.

Will do. Also I noticed I have a new page in my Intellicenter app. Looks like the thing actually communicates the level it’s measuring. 2550ppm. From other threads I understand this to be a conductivity measurement and not a direct measurement of chloride, but still, and interesting data...

Nifty test. Its reporting water is between 86-95F. Intellicenter says 86F and skimmer thermometer says 87F. So that checks out.

Brand New IC40 Says Low Salt

Hi James, wireform, I collected a sample at elbow depth, put 10mL in my cylinder, and using my magnetic stirrer, I add 1 drop of R-0630. The solution turns yellow. I add one drop of R-0718 and the solution goes milky yellow. I keep adding R-0178 until the first change to brick red; it's a...

I’m not sure if you’re responding to Jim, or saying that I should disregard the cells reading in favor of the more accurate test. If the latter, my issue is the cell won’t produce if it thinks the salt is to low.

Brand new IC40 says Low Salt ... but the Taylor K1766 says salt is at 3400ppm. Good evening. I just plumbed in a Pentair IC40. I brought salt up to 3400ppm in two steps. I've been aerating and acid dosing to bring TA <=80, and then I'll add cyanuric acid to bring CYA up to 60. In the mean time...

    Should I Replace Equipment Myself?

All right well I spent many tens of hours replacing the pump and filter and replumbing the pad. The pool is getting plastered in a few days so I haven’t had a chance to run water through it and see if all my joints hold. I cringe at the thought of a leak… Anyways, I’m installing the...
