Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

after weeks of trying to trouble shoot and my PB saying 20PSI on the filter was normal I swapped out the filter. After that everything started working properly. The PSI on the filter dropped to 14 as soon as I put a clean filter in.

Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

I think there is still a flow issue as the Salt Cell keeps getting a no flow alarm. So until the flow coming out of the filter is up adding a flow switch for heater won't make any difference. If I can't get the salt cell on then the heater will have the same issue.

The filter is a swim clear 150s https://www.hayward-pool.com/shop/en/pools/res-in-ground/res-filters/swimclear-single-element-i-seswim I am going to swap the filter out later today. Its been cleaned regularly but 20PSI seems like part of the issue.

Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

the question I have is why would only 2 of the 4 returns have flow at any given time. You have to close off the 2 closest to the pump to get flow from the 2 furthest when the pump is at 100%.

Which is why I was thinking the pump...

Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

The builder was back out this week. They closed 2 of my 4 returns and still didn't solve the issues and I think will cause problems long term as my only returns are now on the end of the pool opposite the skimmer. Nothing on the sides mid pool. They "think" its a bad pressure switch though I am...

Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

I’m holding off right now my PB is still working with Hayward. The changes the eyeballs to smaller ones and if you restrict the flow to the returns the heater runs. I’ve told my PB this isn’t acceptable and they need to correct the install. The other issue has been the salt cell will only run at...

Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

thanks for the help. Waiting on my PB to come back with a solution before I suggest the change. He did good work on the install but there has been a number of smaller issues that have had to be run down. I know the pressure sensor is easy to swap and key is to get the desired state that no water...

Hayward H Series Heater Back Pressure

I have a newly installed Hayward H Series heater. My PB was out with the Hayward rep and struggled to get it going. They were finally able to get it flowing by shutting the return jets 90% and diverting to the water slide which is a smaller diameter pipe. The tech said the reason was that the...

    VSP dropping RPM

On the VSP apparently there is a setting in the OmniLogic to use the flow switch, its not designed for the pumps and was causing an issue its more for the chlorinator. Once they set that off it was good to go. On the Heater its a Hayward H150FDN. There are 4 returns in the pool plus the water...

    VSP dropping RPM

turns out it was a programming issues. They had some setting wrong that was causing the issue in the OmniLogic. Everything is fixed except the heater doesn't have enough back preassure and they need to figure out how to increase that to keep the heater running without the slide turned on.

    VSP dropping RPM

Checked both the amp draw and the voltage. Volts reading 244-245 amps 21-22 on each leg. Nothing major and the pump didn't drop RPM when there was the =-1 V or =-1 1 amp Its a maxflo 500 Hayward Pump

    VSP dropping RPM

I have no place to see that as it doesn't show on the OmniLogic. Its enough of a drop to trip the pressure sensor on the heater.

    VSP dropping RPM

Its controlled by an OmniLogic controller. Its very odd it runs norma and then randomly drops the rpms for a split second then right back up. There is no pattern to the drop but happens frequently and at any speed.

    VSP dropping RPM

I have a Hayward VSP that not matter what speed it runs at will drop RPM for a second every few min or so and then go right back to full speed. Its enough if a drop to cause the Heater to report low flow and occasionally the flow sensor as well. I checked the voltage come into the pump and its...
