Have you tested the gas pressure before and after the manifold regulator? I don’t recall anything being in between the burners and heat exchanger unless part of the ceramic sidewall has fallen.

how fast are you seeing the water temp rise? I am sure in sub freezing it’s slower. I am thinking with a solar cover in the spring/fall about 1 degree an hour.

What is your flame strength as displayed in the service menu? Is this a new problem or has it been on going? Was the burned tray checked and all looks good?

That’s what I am thinking. Capping the outlet of the heater and pressurizing the inlet side with the hose. Fingers crossed there isn’t any leaks. Replacement tube exchanger is $615

What pressure is your gas line? 7 inch water column or 2 psi? If you have a regulator just before the heater than you might have a 2 psi setup. Do you have a regulator on each appliance in the home?
