How to build a CO2 blowout system for clogged lines?

I put the rubber blow bag on the lines again tonight. I ran the main drain line until the air bubbles were gone, and then I switched to the skimmer line. I created some back pressure using the diverter valve, and one of the old 1" glass mosaic tiles came up through the line. I'm sure there is...

How to build a CO2 blowout system for clogged lines?

I've searched the depths of the Internet, and I cannot find instructions on how to build a CO2 blowout bag system. I hired a company a month ago to blow out my lines, and the tech's system was leaking to the point where he couldn't generate enough pressure to clear the lines. I have a full CO2...

    Refinishing a fiberglass waterslide

The slide is 36" wide and just a tad over 100' long, and the quotes ranged from $7k to $15k. The lower prices did not include disassembly (i.e prep and paint in place), while the $15k quote included full disassembly, paint and reassembly. The slide looks great. I'll take some pictures so you...

    Refinishing a fiberglass waterslide

In case someone reads this in the future, I ended up hiring a company that refinishes slides for commercial water parks. I talked to a few boat service companies (i.e. gel coat), but I felt much more comfortable hiring a company which only works on slides. Note, the quotes were all over the...

Rigid tube for chlorine and acid injection

Do you simply drop the coiled tubing into a container? I am using 10-20G containers, and I would like to have a rigid uptake tube which can be placed ~1" above the bottom of the container.

Rigid tube for chlorine and acid injection

Hello. I just had stenner pumps installed to automate liquid chlorine and acid injection, and I am currently looking for rigid tubing to place into the reservoirs. The tubing which came with the pumps is flexible, and I'm looking for a rigid tube/pipe to ensure I have a consistent depth in the...

How to cut-in replacement PVC plumbing?

Thanks, Mark. Here are two pictures. I need to connect the top pipe (from filter to the return line), and this is my first time working with pool plumbing. I cut and cemented a piece too short, so I will have the replacement unions in a few days. The pipe structure is fairly rigid, so I need...

How to cut-in replacement PVC plumbing?

Hello all. My Jandy CL460 cartridge filter split open, so I am replacing the filter unit. However, the new unit was redesigned by Jandy, so the PVC lengths are slightly different. Before I start cutting the new plumbing, I wanted to ask two questions. 1) Can I use water (or another...

    Refinishing a fiberglass waterslide

Hello. The paint on the sides of our waterslide (exposed to heavy sun levels) is flaking, so I need to find someone who can refinish the slide. Does anyone have experience refinishing a fiberglass waterslide? The first two pictures show the sun-damaged area, while the last picture shows the...

How to remove and install the Retaining Ring in Jandy CL cartridge filter?

I installed the new retaining ring, and it simply seats into the lower unit with pressure. I used hand pressure with gloves (edges are sharp) and then worked the ring into the unit with gentle hammer taps.

How to remove and install the Retaining Ring in Jandy CL cartridge filter?

Thanks, Allen. I used a small flat blade screwdriver and a hammer, and the retaining ring popped out fairly easily. I will close out this thread once I install the new part which is arriving next week.

How to remove and install the Retaining Ring in Jandy CL cartridge filter?

Hello. I noticed a leak in one of our Jandy CL460 filters, and upon inspection, I noticed the retaining ring inside the filter was rusted (near the leak site). I just ordered a new ring from Amazon, but the reviews said the part doesn't come with instructions. Does anyone know how to remove...

Is this a stain or bleached surface?

I drained the spa into the negative edge catch pool, and I sprayed some acid/water onto the pebbles. Everything immediately started to foam and the calcium layer was gone after a quick wash with the hose :-) See the attached photo. The right side of the picture was treated, while the left...

Is this a stain or bleached surface?

Hello. Last year I hired a pool company to prime a tricky waterslide pump system, and they took the liberty of adding chemicals to my pool. Ever since that time (at least from what I can remember), I have noticed white colored blotches on the pool floor. The floor is coated with small...

Help me save money with our pool pumps

PS - I am currently chlorinating with tri-chlor tabs and granular. There are in-line chlorinator chambers for the tabs, but I mainly use floaters. I was using granulated cal hypo last year, but I was constantly adding additional stabilizer (I believe this was linked to the water I lost via the...

Help me save money with our pool pumps

Hi Mark. I'm following your logic now, as I had assumed the filter was the most important part of the equation. Instead of the experiment you mentioned, can you look at the run schedule I originally posted and propose a new schedule for the listed pumps? I appreciate your help. Thanks, Nick

Help me save money with our pool pumps

Thanks for the replies. I updated my signature, but can get more details, if needed. As mentioned, I am only focused on upgrading two filter pumps right now (2004 Jandy JHPU single speed 1.5 HP). As Mark mentioned, I am not planning to upgrade the accessory pumps, as they either require high...
