    Looking for new SWG

That is a good point Proavia, I wouldn't like to run my pump for long hours just to generate enough chlorine if I don't have to. I do plan to get a K-1766. I've been looking at DSP and right now the RJ 60 is cheaper than the RJ 45 which I was initially looking to get.

    Looking for new SWG

Thank you for the recommendation Chris. And I don't need a variable speed pump for the SWG to function properly right? Here is the space I am working with, I think I could swing the RJ series especially if I get the vertical kit? I have about 22 inches to work with from pump return to where...

    Looking for new SWG

Hello all, I am looking for recommendations on SWG. I have read the threads and it seems that there are good experiences with the CircuPool products, especially for DIYers. My pool is heavily used in the summer and temperatures get pretty high here in AZ. With a 12k gal pool I was looking at...

    IFCS Filter Pressure Fluctuation

I was looking more closely last night and the pressure difference is about 7 psi instead of 10. The new cam keeps the T-valve open for less time than before but I'll check the overlap.

    IFCS Filter Pressure Fluctuation

Not a huge difference. The new cam has a narrower head, the part that lift the RTvalve, but not by much and it has a smoother transition, meaning the transition from closed to open is smoother because the slope of the cam is more gradual. If anything the new cam should work better.

    IFCS Filter Pressure Fluctuation

I think it is on every zone change. I need to watch it for the full 6 minutes that it cycles through all zones to make sure. The interesting part is that with the new replacement cam the pressure stays high for all valves except for one valve but if I switch the cam to the original one (just...

    IFCS Filter Pressure Fluctuation

It is a 6 port side feed with T valves. The replacement cam and gear set is a 6 port as well. 10 psi fluctuation seems high to me but I've never had IFCS. I was thinking of replacing the T-valves but it may not be necessary.

    IFCS Filter Pressure Fluctuation

Is it normal to have pressure fluctuations when the IGFC pop ups are cycling from one zone to the next? Here is some background: I just moved to a house with a pool with IGFC. Two pop ups were missing and there zones were not cycling. I don't know how long the equipment was in that state. I...

Moved to a new house with pool

There is a lot of dust and leafs at the bottom of the pool. I will have to drain the pool since the CYA is really high, I had to dilute the sample twice and I think CYA is 400+ at a minimum. I have multiple trees outside the property that are part of the HOA so I will always have leaves...

Moved to a new house with pool

Thanks for the response! Would the QuickSkim have enough suction to use a manual vacuum like this one: Pool Vacuum?

Moved to a new house with pool

Hello, I just moved to a new house with a pool that has pop ups and QuickSkim, my previous pool had a pool cleaner vaccuum and a skimmer and it was easy to clean. This new pool is a completely different system for me and it would be great to get some direction on how to take care of it: Some...

    Helping out pool cleaning

Yes, the algae is visible in the robot cleaner and the baskets and the CYA is high, so can't do the SLAM process with that high CYA. I do wonder how do we know if we have algae if we can't see it, say for my own pool. Is it recommended to do the overnight test periodically? Maddie, The pool...

    Helping out pool cleaning

So then a couple of questions come to mind, the first is how do I know that I have algae if my CC is 0 besides just physically seeing it? I could do the overnight test but then does that mean that I should be doing the overnight test periodically? Second question: Do I still need to drain the...

Pentair Equipment Operation for Weekly Maintenance

Hello all, I am currently helping a friend maintaining her pool, I can only go once a week and do the maintenance. On of the things that I have not been able to figure out yet is how to setup her Pentair equipment so that when I add chemicals I run her pump so that it comes off in 3 hours so...

    Helping out pool cleaning

Hello Gene, The pool is at Gilbert as well. 20k Gal IG pool, it is not SWG, it has been kept clean with chlorine tablets by a pool cleaning company. Thanks for the tip on cleaning my equipment, I am doing that right now. I have another question that came up in today's maintenance. So I went...

    Helping out pool cleaning

Thanks a lot for the read! The pool is almost brand new, it was built late last srping, so not even a year old, the read states that there could be some risks from high water tables when draining out the pool, are there any extra precautions that i need to take because the pool is new?

    Helping out pool cleaning

Hello all, I have a few questions that I need advice on. I just started helping out a friend of mine take care of her pool. She told me that she has not had had service since early December and now it is mid-late January. I checked her chemical levels, which I detail below. The chlorine...

    Emptying and refilling pool

An update on this. I called a company and they removed the calcium buildup, they did a good job. They drained the pool though so I didn't have to do it myself. Once the pool was filled they added liquid chlorine and CYA, so now to monitor the chemical levels and adjust as necessary. Thanks...

    Emptying and refilling pool

Thanks for the info! Yes, that is CH. Why is it important to drain and refill quickly? My thought was to drain, have a company clean the scale buildup, and when they are done refill with water, but is that not a good idea? The municipality requires the water to be drained to the sewer which I...

    Emptying and refilling pool

Hello, I am wondering if I need to empty my pool because of my high levels of calcium and CYA. If so how do I go about emptying the pool? Do I need to take any precautions? I am also thinking of cleaning the calcium spots/stains in the process. Any recommendations on how to do that as well...

    Black spots on my cleaner

Has anybody seen black spots in their cleaner? I am wondering if it is black algae, I don't see it anywhere else in the pool, at least not in visible areas, just in the pleated seal of the cleaner. I can't even scratch it off. FC: 5 CC: 0 pH: 7.7 TA: 125 CH: 1150 CYA: 140
