New pool plaster - PH Seems to rise a lot each day, also a question about skimmers

Hot Dog... I owe you a beer if you are ever in my neighborhood. The door was stuck down and not floating... old skimmer didn't have one... Just pulled the door out from the bottom and it is floating happily in the water doing its job.

New pool plaster - PH Seems to rise a lot each day, also a question about skimmers

Hi, Just had the inground pool replastered and "redone" a little over a month ago. After the initial startup I took over the pool and have been meticulously testing and monitoring etc. My current problem seems to be PH drifting upwards pretty quick. I have a SWG so I know that there is...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

By the way, if anyone else is ever interested in getting help on an autopilot or have technical questions the guys over at SaltPoolGuys are quick and super knowledgeable. They even tried to figure out why the SWG I have (the Nano) isn't producing enough when I was trying to buy a the new system...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

Just got confirmation from an autopilot distributor. Plumbing and cell size are identical. I literally can just swap the controller and put in the new cell. My total out of pocket on the controller will be ~$700 and then the cell I want is ~$400 (plus a rebate of some kind). And no new...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

New dumb question on this. From my looking at the set up and system, it almost looks like I could buy a Digital controller and a PPC 3 cartridge, keep the plumbing the same (since I am using the Nano basically a controller replacement), and , and then just power it up and plug in the tri sensor...

    SWG question for Florida folks....

It rains a lot, and becomes super hot, which in turn makes my pool heat to a nice warm temperature... higher temp combined with rain and UV = lots of FC loss. On top of that I get a lot of splash out from kids use. I am usually targeting to have FC between 4 and 5 PPM.

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

So I have done some research between getting a Autopilot Digital and a Circupool and here is what I have discovered. I am not doing any of this fancy automation Crud, I can use switches and an old fashion timer. Autopilot Digital Has a premium price (about 50% more than Circupool) Made in...

    SWG question for Florida folks....

I don't know where in florida you live, but I have a 10k gallon pool with a digital nano Auto pilot. It produces a little under 10PPM FC a day if run 24 hours. I am lose upwards of 7PPM FC a day (around 0.8LBS a day) even with chems right due to UV and Rain here in south florida during the...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

I would take something that works good over something with a good warranty that always needs repairs any day. I am having the guys that redo my deck and pool do the install of the system.... so really it is more of a question on which one is the best to pick. Ultimatly, To me the ~$500 price...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

CYA range actually ran between 80 and 90 in the summer. Since it isn't summer, I can not post all test results for summer, but right now I am at FC4.5 CC 0.5 TA 80 CH 250 CYA 80 PH 7.6 (and in summer I try to keep it around the same) Unfortunately, the Amp and Volt indicator is not perfect at...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

So it could have been the cord issue with the cell that kept coming up, but honestly, everyone in my area seems to struggle in summer on chlorine. I have a close family friend who who lives down the block who was putting in 2 Trichlor tabs a week and dumping 2 to 4 gallons of home depot...

Need help determining what SWG to replace my current one with, as well as opinions on whether or not to do other equipment change out

If I am in the wrong thread please tell me, but my biggest priority is getting opinons on the SWG. I am about to do a full inground Pool/patio reno and figured while I am at it to do an equipment upgrade/change out if it is warranted. (all of this set up was put in place before I bought the...

Summer Challenges - How to supplement for an undersized SWG

So just looked at one if those rated for 30k gallons and it has an output of 1.5lbs per day.. which means my own estimates were not way off.. :) There is a metal screen to catch debris before it gets to the swgc.. it says to clean it regularly.. looks like my regular is every 2 days for the...

Summer Challenges - How to supplement for an undersized SWG

Do you have an example of a 30k unit. Best I can come up with is looking at chlorine production/day numbers. And by my simple math, If I double production from where it is I should be fine, and if I do more I should be fully covered. How much would a 30k unit produce/day? (these unit size...

Summer Challenges - How to supplement for an undersized SWG

So As best as I can tell, My SWG is undersized for my pool (It came with house so I was not the one who sized it). I have run a number (and will run again) over night chlorine checks, but it seems that the extreme UV of south florida, combined with the fact that my pool doesn't get that much...

Auto Pilot Nano (model 75041) - Intermittant Low amp Cell warning

As a follow up, those saltpoolguys are amazing. They helped isolate my problem and figure it out (was cell cord connection to the main box issue)

Auto Pilot Nano (model 75041) - Intermittant Low amp Cell warning

Opened it up, while there was an "electric" smell, nothing looked fried. Changed the fuse to see if that would help... and nope... still same issue. Anyone faced this before, is this a sign of the power board going? the transformer going? something else wrong?

Auto Pilot Nano (model 75041) - Intermittant Low amp Cell warning

The board is the last thing I was going to look at unless someone gave me a better idea... It seemed like the most complex issue of all possible options to resolve.

Auto Pilot Nano (model 75041) - Intermittant Low amp Cell warning

Forgot to mention, I tested the salt level using salt strips... so not a salt issue. Salinity to board is 3200PPM, Salt per strip is around 3000PPM.

Auto Pilot Nano (model 75041) - Intermittant Low amp Cell warning

I have been trying to diagnose what has been causing an intermittant Low amp Cell warning on my Autpilot Nano . I have already: Changed the cell Changed the cell power cord There is no build up or flow problems (all filters cleaned). I have found that on occasion, to fix the issue, it can be...

    Cannot maintain chlorine levels

You might need to add salt, don't know what your SWG specs say, but I would check. This could also explain why your SWG isn't producing.

    Cannot maintain chlorine levels

I would do a slam, I would also post your full test results for others to help. Include your combined chlorine results (I am guessing it will also be an indicator you need to SLAM)

    Cannot maintain chlorine levels

you didn't say what your FC levels were (or if they were at Zero), but after you are done slamming you might want to adjust your CYA up to the recommended levels. I am in a similar situation to you and have passed the SLAM tests so the best answer I have is the darn UV rays during these hot...

    New to me saltwater pool

Are you replacing the whole SWG or the SWG cell... Cause the cells need replacement, but the unit its self I would think could be repaired if something went bad with it... at least that is my opinion (but I am no expert).

    cya level in pool dropping

I have been taking the word of people on here like it is the gospel of pool science... if you told me that on the 12th day of the 12th hour of the 12th minute of the 12th second of the 12th month if the moon is full, all the water magically moves from the shallow end to the deep end creating a...

    cya level in pool dropping

Wow.. and I thought I was crazy when I started seeing my CYA drop. So basically I will lose about 10PPM CYA a month with ~80-85 degree water?
