    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

I had a suction side issue too, and it took way too long for me to figure it out. What it was: I have 2 cut off valves prior to the pump, one for the skimmers and one for the drain. I took apart the valve head and saw an O ring inside. I took that out, cleaned it and lubed it, put it back...

Iron Staining // Ascorbic Acid Treatment

actually just did the AA few weeks ago and stains did come back.. polyfil didn't really do anything but i think the filter caught some iron since the stains look to be "better". i'm due for a new liner in a year or two so i'll just deal with the iron until then and filter the water going into...

Iron Staining // Ascorbic Acid Treatment

sorry for the late reply, haven't been on the site in a bit. I have not done the AA treatment this year but years ago I did and now my iron stains are worse than ever. My plan, once the water temp drops a bit and no one is using it, is to drop the chlorine and add polyquat, along with a couple...

Iron Staining // Ascorbic Acid Treatment

Hi Tiziano - I'm about to start the AA treatment this summer and was interested in your process. I did it 2 years ago but after struggling to raise my FC back, along with re-staining (and the cost), I pretty much gave up on the process. But I think you're on to something here.. When I did it...

Hayward Heat Pump 140k BTU cracked PVC nut, 3 years old

Here's an update for future reference. I had to file a complaint with BBB to which Hayward responded the next day. Over several email exchanges with a Tech, they decided to replace the whole heat exchanger and reduce the labor cost to me to a few hundred dollars. I accepted the proposal...

Hayward Heat Pump 140k BTU cracked PVC nut, 3 years old

Thanks for the comment. I have my pool closed by a reputable local company, I wonder if they'll reject the notion that it's on them for failing to winterize properly. I may have to give it a try. I saw that other post. I reached out the original poster but haven't heard back yet. Could be...

Hayward Heat Pump 140k BTU cracked PVC nut, 3 years old

Howdy I took the cover off my heat pump (hp21404t) and noticed that a PVC compression nut/union was cracked. Upon further inspection, it was completely broken and fell off. I contacted Hayward who is giving me the option of A) buy new unit or B) get a new heat exchanger but I pay for the...

it looks pretty beat up and the parts are cheap.. at this point i've replaced everything over the years except the actual fiberglass de housing so might as well renew this.

Hayward super pump shaft seal replacing..again?

I didn't use lube and wore gloves to insert the ceramic seal as well as the shaft seal. I actually replaced them today and there's still a small leak from the housing. Considering its 20 plus years old I may just replace the pump housing.

Hayward super pump shaft seal replacing..again?

I have a hayward super pump and replaced the ceramic shaft seal about 2 years ago. Just noticed a small leak under the pump housing so I'm guessing it needs replacing again. I have the shaft seal and the impeller seal since I bought them for back up. Is it normal for these to go so often...

i was getting very low readings compared to the Taylor kit, but perhaps you're right that you need lower levels.

Liner staining or algae? Getting obsessed..

i've been diluting the pool water with tap water and multiplying results by 2. i threw the Blue Devil test kit out since it's not even close to the Taylor kit in terms of readings and i see more positive reviews of the Taylor kit overall in terms of accuracy.

Liner staining or algae? Getting obsessed..

hi all -- i've been using this site for a long time but i can't seem to figure out if my pool is on the verge of an algae attack or if the liner is just stained. sorry for the long post, but i wanted to give as much info as possible. there's some very light greenish patches on the pool floor...
