New pool trying to get levels right

Yes I’m doing liquid chlorine and I’ve been aiming for 5-6 and add in the evening. It was 6 after I added last night so we will see what it is tonight. 2 was the lowest it has dropped to but it’s been full sun and close to 100 degrees the last couple of days here.

New pool trying to get levels right

I will do that tonight to double check. I did it right after getting the cya/chlorine in and it was fine but will make sure before adding more cya. Will I be okay just boosting the chlorine early Friday am before leaving and will check and add more Sunday afternoon when we get back? It’s been...

New pool trying to get levels right

One week in with the new pool and we are trying to get it right. We are working on getting the TA down and have made good progress, went from 290 to 180! Right now the CYA is at 30 and we are losing between 3-4 ppm chlorine per day. Does it make sense to get the CYA up to 40 to try to prevent...

    Waiting on electrician

Thank you! Are we okay to use it even if ph/ta isn’t quite right yet? As long as cya and chlorine are good? It’s been a long weekend digging holes around it and looking at it! I didn’t want anyone in it until I could get cya/chlorine in it

    Waiting on electrician

Good to hear. It definitely looks better already. The water was clear, just had a greenish tint to it when looking at pool that made me nervous. I did the CYA early this morning using the sock/skimmer method and left the pump on high all day. How long should I keep the pump going ? Can I put it...

    Waiting on electrician

Okay we are making progress. Got the pump hooked up temporarily still waiting on electrician for the permanent one. Levels are getting there: FC 6.5 TA 280 CYA 30 PH 7.7 CH 200 So, do I leave the cya at 30, poolmath shows 40 is ideal? Also, I should add muriatic acid to get pH to 7.2 to help...

    Waiting on electrician

They are old enough to understand and we’ve got them busy helping prep for the deck anyways for now. I’m wondering if I should just stick to LC and brushing or if I can add the CYA in sock and brush or wait on adding that until pump is running?

    Waiting on electrician

Here are the levels I got FC 0 TA 290 CYA 0 PH 8.2 The TA seems really high, I’m not sure if I did something wrong testing or if that is correct? I knew the FC and CYA would be 0 but didn’t expect TA at that level.

    Waiting on electrician

Yes we had water trucked in, just finishing up with hose but it is very clear so far. My kids were already itching to jump in yesterday after backfilling around the pool in the heat! I’m not sure how long I can hold them off!

    Waiting on electrician

We had our pool installed this week and the water level is almost full now. I’m waiting to hear when the electrician will be here to run the line for the pump. Can I manually add both cya and chlorine and brush walls and floor well to get started? I just don’t want to start out with water...

Dumb question...does electric HAVE to be installed before pool install?

We are in the same boat. Waiting on the electrician and the pool is up and almost filled now. Can I manually add chlorine and brush well to circulate just to try to keep it clean until we get the electric up for the pump? Should I add cya also or just stick to chlorine for now? I’m hoping it...

    Automated chlorine feeder

Okay good to know. Thanks for the quick reply! We are new to the pool world and just getting started so I’m sure I will have many more questions to ask!

    Automated chlorine feeder

Okay thank you. That’s what I thought, I didn’t see a need to take it out of the system if it would be possibly helpful at some point. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t an issue to not use it since it’s built in. I had no idea they were including this. So basically if we are going to be...

    Automated chlorine feeder

We had our pool installed yesterday and I came home to an automated chlorine feeder put in. It wasn’t something we had discussed so I’m wondering if I can just not use it since we are planning on using the TFP method of liquid chlorine and just keep it in place for times when we will be away...

    Radiant vs Aquasport 52

We decided against the semi inground option in the end and are in the process of getting an above ground now. Should be installed in 2 weeks. We ended up tearing down our original deck and will rebuild to incorporate the pool to have more of an inground feel without the inground/semi-inground...

    Chemicals needed at start up

13,500 gallons. I’m assuming the fresh water fill will have zero chlorine/cya to start?

    Chemicals needed at start up

We are in the process of getting a new 24 ft round above ground pool installed soon and I’m trying to figure out what chemicals I should have on hand at the beginning? I already ordered the TF-100 test kit but won’t be able to test water until it is delivered. I have some bleach but have no idea...

    Swg on above ground pool

Thanks for all the information. We may start out this season without it and see how it goes since we will get a late start and add one next year. I really like the idea of the SWG but would rather not spend that much more this season with the cost of the pool and having to redo the deck as well.

    Swg on above ground pool

Thanks for all the info. I’m feeling overwhelmed with it all now that it’s getting real. I have alittle time to keep researching but want to be as prepared as I can when it gets here.

    Swg on above ground pool

I believe pool volume is around 13,500 gal? I’m not sure of the chlorine output of the simple salt system. We did everything remotely and I’m waiting on paperwork. I have read that most above ground SWG are rated for a lower volume and thought it was suggested getting one that is capable of...

    Swg on above ground pool

Well, after years of debate we finally did it and are getting a pool! I’ve been researching on and off for awhile and am leaning towards adding a SWG. We are getting a 24 ft round pool, installer is trying to talk me into the Simple Salt System but I have not read good things about this system...

    Radiant vs Aquasport 52

I am new to TFP and have just began going through all the great information on here. We are looking at semi inground pool options since we are looking to built on a sloped yard. I’ve been researching and am trying to decide if the radiant or Aquasport 52 would be a better option. I’m looking for...

    New from New York

Hi there. We are finally thinking of getting a pool. We’ve been discussing it for years but the cost of the inground is too much to justify for the 4 month time period we would be able to use it here. I’ve been looking at the semi inground as an option but am still feeling overwhelmed with all...
