    I didn’t notice any clips, should I take the top off and check the spider gasket? Or would just returning it be the best solution? Thank you for your help!

    Yes, I pulled it out of the box, and replaced it in the same position as the old one.

    I replaced the Hayward top valve, and now when in filter mode the water is going to backwash along with the filter. Did I get a bad valve?
