UPDATE - It's been 2 hours since I applied the caulk and it definitely made a difference, I was pulling water from the pool for about 8 seconds... then it stopped so I'm assuming I need to replace the pipe/fitting that goes into the pump basket since the caulk obviously helped, but didn't hold...

Okay, I will work on increasing the PH and TA. And yes, I have been backwashing the filter when I was brushing and dead algae rose to the surface... but now nothing really comes to the surface anymore so I am assuming the algae is all gone, and thus I don't backwash unless the pressure gets too...

Just realized that I needed to multiply by 10 for the TA, so the TA is between 60-70 instead of 6 and 7. :)
