    Proper water level in pump

No, I have a PureLine pump, but the same would hold true for any pump. If there is a problem with the gasket, or with the sealing edge you could get an air leak. Just like having piece of foreign matter (like a twig or something) caught between the gasket and the cover. -Ken

    Proper water level in pump

I would also check the pump basket cover as well (where it meets with the gasket). My cover had a factory defect allowing air to get past the gasket.

    Wiring an SWCG w/a VSP

It's an old 90-342 relay I had laying around, but any SPST relay with a 208/240 volt control voltage would work.

    Wiring an SWCG w/a VSP

Jim, You are correct in your circuit analysis and yes, in this configuration it will always run at one speed. However, I did make a modification to the circuit that I failed to show in the drawing. The Pureline Pump has 4 digital inputs (sounds similar to yours). During normal operation...

    Wiring an SWCG w/a VSP

So, I know I posted this wiring diagram in another post. At the point in time it was just a concept. Now that I've implemented it I'd like to share my experience. I really like the way it works. Your mileage may vary! What this setup allows me to do is control my salt water generator and...

    Teaching TFP?

Testing is the same but because the process of converting salt into chlorine adversely increases PH, your parameters change a bit. You'll use more acid and want a lower TA to help hold the PH down.

    Teaching TFP?

Or maybe each student pays a small 'lab chemicals' fee and you all work from the same kit. Those who take a real interest will spring for their own kit. Others might be a little more pool store smart. Win win.

    Getting started with saltwater.

That kit looks just like my K2006 which has FAS-DPD. Edit- just noticed no DPD powder so not the same as mine.

Best online sites to purchase a quality pump?

I didn't think a VSP was in my budget either but when I started looking at 2 speed pumps and compared the prices I decided that the incredible diversity of speeds with a VSP was worth $150. I'll probably only ever use 2 or 3 speeds, but I get to choose the lowest, most economical, RPMs. I...

    Poolmath - Chemistry History

That is TOTALLY AWESOME. Now that you mention it I remember seeing the summary but at the time it didn't really have much information so it wasn't very useful. It's pretty close to what I was describing. What would get it closer would be the ability to click on the 'nn Test Logs' for a...

    Poolmath - Chemistry History

Love the app.... One of the things I use it for is history. I.E. What was my PH today, the last time I tested it, the time before that. Also, when did I last add acid and how much, when did I have to add acid before that, etc. The same would be true for Chlorine but given I have a SWCG now...

Wiring a SWG with VS pump

Maybe it's just me, but I consider the flow sensor to be a 'safety' not 'primary' control; in this scenario you should really have both. Because it is a safety, I believe it should not be relied upon to control the operation of a potentially dangerous device . In my 20's I worked as a boiler...

    PoolMath question

Old page can be found here. PoolMath I use the app now. Absolutely love it. But you will want to pay the $8 to get full function.

Wiring a SWG with VS pump

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I read that also. What I got from it was that as long as there was no DI (digital input) the Override button would work. Once a DI was received it would take priority. Thus, I could bring the pump on manually then, once the timer activates the relay, my timer...

    This place has gotten expensive

Don't forget the Robot! Or maybe.... an underwater drone with appendages. I could use it for brushing, vacuuming, retrieving items from the bottom when the water is too cold to go into.

Wiring a SWG with VS pump

Apologies; I guess a better explanation would have helped. The pump has power 24/7 but will only run when: A. The timer energizes the relay or B. I manually start the pump using the Override button (or I may do this with a spring wound 4 hour timer in the 12volt circuit) The SWCG is only...

Wiring a SWG with VS pump

My Pureline Prime VS will be delivered on Tuesday. Based on my reading of the manual it has a Digital Input Circuit that allows you control the motor with a low voltage circuit. While using a current sensing relay would be easier, my way would use the timer to bring on the pump and SWCG but...

    This place has gotten expensive

When I discovered Trouble Free Pool sometime last year I thought it might be a good place to find useful, valuable information. I was right, but looking back it was the beginning of my addiction! It started with a K2006 test kit....cha ching! Then I thought a Speed Stir might be nice....cha...

    SWG and Return Fitting Fountain

Not so stupid in my opinion! My SWG arrives later this week so I replumbed yesterday to prepare for it's arrival (there was no room for the SWG in the return line). Had I seen this question yesterday I probably would have done something different. I have an aerator that I could have plumbed...

    Clorox Pool Salt

Hello All, New to the forum. Ordered a Circupool RJ45; waiting for it to arrive. I thought I'd get a head start on adding the salt. Everyone says but when I went to Lowes the two type of Morton's (pellets & granular) both stated 'for water softener use ONLY.' They had another brand made...
