Autopilot warning check clean cell problem

I have a Dig 220, Autopilot rc 42 and am seeing the "check clean cell" message. I live in the Midwest and only use the pool 4 months a year. The generator is 5 years old. Salt level is 3200 ppm, 2.8v, 3.6 amp after boost test. Is it likely a bad cell? What should I do next? My chlorine levels so...

Ascorbic Treatment to rid Pool of metal stains

Took a little different approach. I wanted to share it with everyone. Had a big "ring" of metal staining around the perimeter of the pool at the winterized lower water level. Very unsightly. This is what I did... I did not lower my FC[/*:m:1qkbbiz4] I first added sequestrant in appropriate...

Closing down with 1 person- My solution

Great idea!! I would like to winterize on my own next season. The 2 concerns I had were which compressor to buy and where to connect it! So specifically which compressor did you use, where did you get the 1/4 inch air compressor plug, and how deep is your main drain? I assume you knew the...

    Closing Story and a Half

Sorry for your misery. It will be easier next year. Just a word about the returns. Those "inner kind of flange protrusions" as you call them actually unscrew and should be removed in addition to the outer assembly and eyeballs.

New IG pool build start to finish!

I am sorry to hear of your troubles!!!! It is your POOL BUILDERS RESPONSIBILITY!!! Call and firmly insist that they attend to the problems. If your PB is inattentive then you might want to remind them that the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and local newspaper might be the next call you make...

Actual SWG vs. Bleach Cost, Eye popping!

Here is my experience. I started with trichlor till I got into trouble with a high CYA. Switched over to BBB. It was very labor intensive for me. Hauling the bleach down to my pool everyday was a pain in the neck. Installed a Liquidator. Was a little less labor intensive but required a...

    Air compressor suggestions

Plan to winterize my pool myself this year. I plan to purchase an air compressor to blow out the dual main drains. I was shopping around and my head was starting to spin. Does anybody know how big of a compressor I need to adequately clear the main drains? Gallons, psi, cfm's???? Help. My...

Thanks Adam. I figured it would get some other uses around the house. You can get a compressor for a good price nowadays.

Any recommendations for a specific kind of air compressor? I do not have an air compressor but would be willing to buy one to use for closing every year.

    Inground winterizing questions

So here is my understanding. If you force air through the main drain from the equipment pad then seal the outlet at the pad (close the ball valve) then the column of PVC is filled with air not water. I think a similar analogy could be demonstrated with a snorkel. Submerge it and fill it with...

    Inground winterizing questions

I suggested to Sean that Jason's Inground pool winterizing thread be added to pool school. Its excellent. I actually think this thread would be best merged with that thread as you suggested. I am still not sure about those 2 fittings in my picture of my equipment pad. The one on the pool...

    Inground winterizing questions

Mods, Per Waste's thread here ig-closing-part-ii-t8783.html -I think he wants my thread merged here closing-an-in-ground-pool-t2896.html Please move it if you think that is most appropriate. I have more questions but do not want to post in the wrong location and upset anyone. Thanks,

    Add this to pool school?

Sean, You have a topic in PS about how to close an above ground pool but none about closing an inground pool. Jason posted a great thread here closing-an-in-ground-pool-t2896.html Would you be interested in adding this to pool school? Thanks,

    Inground winterizing questions

Thanks for the replies. What are those fiittings in my picture? I think the one on the pool side of the main drains is a 3/4" check valve. Would I use this to blow out the main drains? Does the main drains need antifreeze? Would I introduce it via that check valve? Thanks,

Chlorinator: Hayward vs. Pentair Rainbow, inline vs. outline

So true Waterbear!!! When I used to use the Hayward it would sometimes be chlorinating even when OFF. My FC was always difficult to control.

    Inground winterizing questions

I would like to winterize the pool myself this year. I live in the midwest and we get heavy snow and hard freezes. Is this a project I can do myself or would you recommend otherwise? I have 2 fittings that are foreign to me that I think are used for winterizing and may simplify the job. Take...
