    Suction side auto vacuum?

Thank you, I was hoping to avoid that due to cost, but I’m starting to come around to the idea and acceptance that that’ll probably be my best bet. Do you by chance have a recommendation for an economically priced robot for a smaller size pool?

    Suction side auto vacuum?

I have a 15’ round intex with a 12” intex sand filter. It says 2100GPH pump rate and 1600GPH system rate. I put in a larger outlet, so I’m guessing I’m maybe more around 1800-2000 flow rate, but I’m not really sure. I guess we’ll just call it 1600 to be safe. I tried the discharge side intex...

New Fiberglass install in Clarksville TN (Dig started Nov 16, 2020)

I just went through most of the thread - color me jealous, I can’t wait to be able to do this myself. Until then I’ll continue to enjoy my vinyl above ground. Congrats!

What a difference with a proper closing!

Here’s my opening this year (after proper closing) and last year (half assed closing). So much easier!

Would this bother you? (pump pictures)

Yeah, I probably would’ve just shook my head and begrudgingly accepted the overspray, but with the paint thinner, completely erased serial numbers, and how he spoke with you - I’d probably play hard ball and refuse to pay until you got a replacement pump. Sucks for him, but his worker should’ve...

    Managing TA

I see what you're saying. Maybe I'll give it a shot. As for cutting the hole, I'm not so worried about the actual cutting. I'm pretty handy, I'm more worried about it holding up. Theres extra vinyl in that area that reinforces the bulkhead, I'd be concerned with it tearing, but I'll actually...

    Managing TA

Wouldnt it still have the same restriction, since it has to go through the 1.25 ports of that valve, and I'd still be using 1.25 hoses from the pool to that adaptor? I currently have a similar set up - 2 1.25 hoses about 3 ft long, to a t with 1.25 to 1.5 adaptor and then 1.5 to the pump. I'd...

    Managing TA

Just the pump. My pool inlets/outlets are 1.25 adapted to accept the 1.5 hoses that the pump uses, so im definitely restricted by the 1.25 hoses. The original filter was one of those crappy intex cartridge filters. I did a bunch of research before buying and got the sand filter at the same time...

    Managing TA

I tried that and it was super hit or miss. Sometimes it would roam around and seem to work well, other times itd sit in one spot and not move for hours. Could never figure it out. My neighbor gave me a suction side vacuum and it was the same deal - would just stop moving. If I back washed it...

    Managing TA

I have a small 15ft round above ground pool with a sand filter that was designed for a pool larger than I have. It really gets the water moving. So while I can vacuum with it on filter, I cant see anything on the bottom because of the return, and it kicks up a lot of what's on the bottom. If its...

    Managing TA

Thanks for the replies. My TA was around 100 all year last year, and I was constantly battling high ph. I was (and probably still am) going to get my TA to 60 or so, and see how that works for me, because ph really was an issue. Its only at 7.2 right now because I just dropped it from 8 to 7. I...

    Managing TA

I have perpetually high TA because my fill water is really high (200). I believe the correct method is to add muriatic to get ph to 7.0, and then aerate to get ph up, then I can add more muriatic, rinse, repeat until I get my TA where I want it. Can I simply do this cycle as quickly as I can...

    SLAM works!

Kind of proud of this. 2nd year opening, and I almost just drained the pool and started over but figured what the heck let's give SLAM a shot. Took the cover off friday night, scooped up as many tadpoles as I could (had HUNDREDS of them), and let everything settle over night. Vacuumed, scrubbed...

    Muriatic acid best practices

What is the advised way to handling adding muriatic acid? I've been just "guestimating" additions straight from the gallon jug, testing, and adding more until I'm happy with where I'm at. This allows me to handling the acid as minimal as possible in terms of accidental skin contact. I'm using...

SLAM - can't pass overnight test

OCLT passed this morning with 0 FC drop! Other question, I figured I'd ask here since this thread is still active. So I checked cya yesterday and it was low. My kit only measures to 30, and it was less than that, I'm "guessing" maybe around 20. A month or so ago it was 40, and just 2 weeks ago...

SLAM - can't pass overnight test

Fc dropped 1.5 again over night with cover off . But theres a good size collection of what appears to be dirt on the bottom, so maybe that ate some fc. I'm going to go ahead and let fc drop so we can use the pool this weekend. <0.5 cc and it's as clear as it's ever been. I will update if it...

SLAM - can't pass overnight test

Thanks Richard - I understand what your are saying. Heres a pic of pool prior to brushing the sides and vacuuming it (honestly I didn't see anything to even vacuum so I just did my best to cover the entire floor) not sure how I can get it any more clear than this! Will leave cover off and...

SLAM - can't pass overnight test

This cover hasn't been rolled up for more than maybe 3 hours this year - but, generally speaking, how long would something have to be rolled up to actually start growing anything? Unless I forget, the cover typically goes back on at night, so maybe 12hrs would be the longest it should be rolled...

SLAM - can't pass overnight test

It is a solar cover, and is only a couple weeks old as I had to replace my prior one. I roll it up and take it out when I've been vacuuming. I handle it frequently and am looking at it the whole time I roll it up, so I definitely don't think theres anything growing on it (though i'm not...

SLAM - can't pass overnight test

Thank you for your advice. As for going over 12 is not going to speed things up, wouldn't I make progress slower and even losing progress if I were dropping below 12 everday? IE, if I get it up to 12 in the morning, and then cant check/add chlorine all day (100 degrees lately, and about 10 hours...
