    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Minor 2020 update with new pictures in the first few posts... TLDR; New pad poured, some new equipment.. then in the coming weeks a new EasyTouch / ScreenLogic panel setup and some new ColorSplash lights.

Main drain vs skimmer - Pressure

I don't believe there's any other control panels for the pool. There is something in the lower right, outside of that panel box, I'll have to see if perhaps it contains a switch or something next time I'm over there. This is the best I can get your for now, we're not living there yet (interior...

Main drain vs skimmer - Pressure

Thank you again! I think the only thing I've noticed when things don't seem to be working properly is the lack of water running through the top of the filter.. so I guess I'd just look out for that? Here's a shot of the panel. It's an Aquadyne circa 1989.

Main drain vs skimmer - Pressure

Thank you! Do I need to do anything when I open the skimmer valve (other than open the valve, I mean).. Stop the pump or anything? Anything with that Jandy valve box at the front of the filter pump?

Main drain vs skimmer - Pressure

See below. It's a mess.. 30 years worth of neglect, so we're definitely starting with a new pad and everything next year, just trying to make sure things are done properly for that work that has already been done. Thanks! I wish I knew more to tell you. My only guess is him looking at the...

Main drain vs skimmer - Pressure

Hi all, I'm relatively new to pool ownership and had shared my initial pool renovation thread here (The Great Mistake (photo heavy!) ). The pool is gunite, ~22k gallons, built-in spa, ~30 years old. Now that the pool itself is in good shape, we're focusing on the equipment. The pool company we...

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Thanks! Sounds very familiar.. I'd rather concentrate on what we can control and move on. The pool was opened (in my opinion) today! I'll take some photos tomorrow, but we haven't replaced any equipment yet. I've scheduled a visit for the home warranty people so we'll see what they say. We...

AWESOME! Didn't realize you were talking about an app and not the link on the website. Thank you, this is perfect!

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Thanks! I did notice that on the sidebar, was hoping to get something on my phone that tracked values over time, etc.. but PoolMath certainly looks very thorough for point-in-time adjustments!!

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Thanks, I've reviewed the disclosures many times before making sure I wasn't crazy and seeing things. The point is that it's difficult (and expensive) to prove someone knew something, especially when they were out of the state half of the year. It's a fair amount of money, but it's not the end...

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Good question! I can only tell you what I was told, and I'm assuming it's true but don't know much myself about any of this. Obviously pressure tests were done at multiple point prior to the pouring of the concrete, but the concrete, being colored and stamped, needed to be poured prior to the...

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Yep, I guess so. Thanks for the heads up.. I assume I stop it halfway up the tile line then? Will see if I can get a TF100 kit on Amazon to get here ASAP so I can independently check pH. I believe the pool company will be doing this for me as the plan was to take over doing my own maintenance...

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Thanks! I agree with you. This was many years of never being touched. I met one set of neighbors a week or two ago (we still haven't moved in) and they mentioned being there 10 years, and had never once seen the pool cover off the pool. I choose to think of it as there was some sort of financial...

True! I did inquire as to the cost of an entirely new pool, and while the renovation is very expensive, it's still not the "from scratch" price, so at least we have that.

    The Great Mistake (photo heavy!)

Thanks all! In the disclosures they did state that they were not aware of any issues with the plumbing (including swimming pool). That being said, I think it's a fool's errand to try and recoup any money from that. We'd have to prove that they knew there were issues. They hardly lived at the...
