    BBB (Bromine,Bleach,Borax)

    I just wanted to give some thanks the members of TFP for all their wealth of information and their willingness to help. After stumbling across this forum a month or so ago I have had great results following the simple procedures laid out here. With bromine used previously I wasn't able to...

    First test results of the year - Bromine pool

    :oops: I accidentally posted this in one of my other threads. So here is my re-post. Today's updated test results - Bromine - 3.4 pH - 7.6 Alkalinity - 130 Hardness - 200 So the added bromide and bleach yesterday seemed to help bring my bromine levels up to normal range. Should I assume my...

    Today's updated test results - Bromine - 3.4 pH - 7.6 Alkalinity - 130 Hardness - 200 So the added bromide and bleach yesterday seemed to help bring my bromine levels up to normal range. Should I assume my bromide "bank" is up to where it needs to be? Now that my levels are in the normal...

    First test results of the year - Bromine pool

    I just added my last to gallons of bleach. I'll have to go for a bleach run to re-stock tomorrow. I'll re-test and post results tomorrow. Are the other levels at an acceptable level?

    Green water in Bromine pool

    Well I will have to stop by the pool store and look at a label. I was just wondering if we are talking oz.s or lbs. that will be needed. The pool store sells the sodium bromide in either 2oz. or 4lb. containers.

    Thanks chem geek! How much sodium bromide should I look to add to be safe my "bank" is sufficient?

    Green water in Bromine pool

    You say the bromide bank should be at 30. The test strips for bromide that I found (online) measure in 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500 and 3,000 ppm. How does this compare to the 30 you suggested? Is there other strips in different calibrations? I will be checking at the local pool store today and...

    Green water in Bromine pool

    When saying a bromine bank are you talking about levels of 3-6 or should the bank start out higher? I used bromine all of last season so if I understand bromine it should still be in the pool at some level. Correct? If I hold of from doing the borates should I do the chlorine shock or just keep...

    Green water in Bromine pool

    I opened my pool 2 weeks ago only to find my pump motor seized up. Fast forward through all the hassles of getting the new pump and installation and that brings us to yesterday. Yesterday was the first day I was able to have the pump running. After opening the pool I added bleach (the largest...

    Whisperflo WFDS-6 and Intermatic PE153 (Digital Timer)

    I wanted to bump this again and give a shout out to Bama for his last post! My Father in law and I spent yesterday replacing my single speed pump with a 2 speed pump and replacing my old timer switch with the PE153. Well needless to say we could not get the wiring correct on the PE153. Last...

    Opening a Bromine pool with no pump

    We opened our pool this Tuesday and went to fire up our pump only to find it seized up. So after researching I found a replacement pump (Sta-Rite Super Max 1.5 HP 2 Speed). I ordered it today but it will take 3-5 business days to get here. So in the mean time I have no circulation in the pool...

    Bromine = Baquacil?

    So I should continue with the bromine tablets and use chlorine as a booster/shocker when needed to raise the levels appropriately?

    Bromine = Baquacil?

    :( So there is no conversion short of draining the pool? Our pool was drained about 1/2 of the 25,000 gallons this winter. So I can't believe the concentration of Bromine is very high. Is there any other alternatives? What would be the worst that would happen if I tried the conversion...

    Bromine = Baquacil?

    Is Bromine basically the same as Baquacil? If so then just follow the same procedures for conversion to chlorine? Thanks! :goodjob:

    Replacement for a Sta-rite max-glas motor

    I've searched just about every pump manufacturer and have yet to find a 2-speed pump with a switch. Does anyone know of one that I am overlooking? If not wouldn't a simple toggle switch rated appropriately work?

    Replacement for a Sta-rite max-glas motor

    Thanks for the input! I found a Hayward Max-flo complete 1.5hp pump set up for basically the same price I was quoted for a replacement motor for my current pump. http://www.sunplay.com/Hayward_Max_Flo_Pump_SP2810X152_p/sp2810x152.htm Any thoughts on this model? Also would it benefit me to...

    Replacement for a Sta-rite max-glas motor

    So if my current motor is 1 hp then that is the max high speed rating I can go correct? Any recommendations on 56 frame 2 speed motors with a speed switch? Or is this available? Thanks!

    Replacement for a Sta-rite max-glas motor

    Whew! Thank you Bama!! I have a 18' x 36' in ground cement pool with a 5'x5' inground spa. If I do not need to change out the pump itself should I stay with a sta-rite replacement motor or will a Whisperflo bolt right up as well? Also any online source suggestions??

    Replacement for a Sta-rite max-glas motor

    Quick update - I just received a call from the pool company that opened the pool (and discovered the seized motor). Replacement for a Sta-rite max-glas motor

    I am needing to replace my 1980's model sta-rite max-e-glas 1 hp (SF 1.55) motor w/square flange. I would like to go with a similar model in a dual/2 speed motor. Could someone recommend some current 2 speed models that will bolt up to my existing pump? Should I stay with Sta-rite? Is it...
