Pump motor overheating, unit likely shot. Replacing opinions wanted

I have been brushing every 6-8 hours for the last 2 days and keeping chlorine high. My kids swam quite a bit during the first few days which helped keep things flowing. As of now I am not seeing any visible signs of algae and I am replacing the unit tomorrow morning so hopefully I am back up...

Pump motor overheating, unit likely shot. Replacing opinions wanted

Hi All, I bought my house 2 years ago from a guy who had rented it out for years and from the looks of it I would say the pool equipment (pump and motor) looks to be a good 8-10 years old. Equipment was running fine since purchase, but about a month ago the pool pump would suddenly stop mid...

    Total Alkalinity very high

Yes we have incredibly hard water here in Scottsdale, AZ - You basically get deposit build up on all faucets quickly if you don’t get a water softener system. I ran the CH test on our faucet water and it was ~400

    Total Alkalinity very high

Completed the third 50% drain/refill this morning. New results: FC- 3 CC- 0 PH- 7.8 CH- 625 TA- 130 CYA- 80 Ext CYA- 80 Numbers are getting better but seems like I might need one more half drain. In the meantime should I be concerned about the low chlorine? Should I shock or anything? Thanks, Joe

    Total Alkalinity very high

I tried a 3/4 100” garden hose on this pump and it’s at about 7gpm. Not great but good enough for me - should do a half drain in 14-15hrs. Im hoping it cools down later this week so I can begin the first drain.

    Total Alkalinity very high

It warmed up here quite a bit so it’s going to be a few days before I can drain. Per city regulations I have to drain my pool to my sewer runoff line, which happens to be 100 feet away from my pool. Apparently it can handle about 12 gallons/minute max. Any recommendations on pump/hose setups...

    Total Alkalinity very high

Sounds good - I’ve just located my sewer runoff (was buried) so I’ll find a pump and do a couple half refills. Need to do these ASAP before it gets to warm as I hear above 80 degrees could damage the pebbletec. Thanks all - I’ll report new results once the refills are complete.

    Total Alkalinity very high

So I reran the tests today for pool and fill water: Pool FC - 9 CC - 1 PH - 7.3 TA - 260 CH - went clear at 50 drops and after 90 drops was still not blue? Temp - 65 CYA - did not hit bottom line, well over 100 CYA extended - did not hit bottom line, well over 100 Fill FC - 0 CC - 0 PH - 7.8...

    Total Alkalinity very high

Results above are for pool water. CYA must be very high as I only filled the tube about half an inch before the dot disappeared. Which is well below the first threshold of 100. I can run the fill water later

    Total Alkalinity very high

Ok all, got my TF100 kit and ran the tests. FC 9 CC 0 PH 7.3 CH gave up after 50 drops color would not turn - not surprising as I believe we have the hardest water in the US here in Scottsdale TA 270 Temp 65 I believe pool volume is around 12,000 gallons- hard to be sure it’s a jelly bean...

    Total Alkalinity very high

So recently bought a home in Scottsdale with a pool, never had a pool before. Pool looks great, clear water, pump runs fine with a barracuda vacuum about 8hrs per day. Decided to test the water out of curiosity. Chlorine level is good around 2.0, PH is good around 7.4. However total alkalinity...
