Thank you for explaining this. One follow up question should I have both the main and the skimmers values open? Is there a reason to have open opened over the other?

I have an IG pool with attached spa and If you look at the picture the PVC with the white handles on it the inner one says main (I assume that is the main Pool Drain) the outer some says skimmer. Does that control both Skimmers? At the point that the 3 PCV come together on the right side, it...
