    Kudo’s to Circupool

After 6 years of faithful service my Circupool RJ-60+ controller decided to meet its untimely demise last week on the Saturday before hurricane Beryl landed in Texas. Monday while the Huricane was making a landing, I called Circupool ( I was not aware they were in the path of the hurricane)...

    New SWG needed

Ahh, reading your initial post, I interpreted that your SWG runs continuously and once every 5 days the SWG would fault while powered. Based this post, your SWG power cycles daily but still every 5 days the unit faults. In this case adding the current sensing relay would not solve that...

    New SWG needed

Few thoughts and comments: Have you considered installing a current sensing relay on your salt water generator? It's an excellent protection to ensure the pump is running before the salt water generator receives power. In your case, whenever your pump de-energizes(turns off) your salt water...

    Using Ajax as stabilizer?

I'd guess it's unlikely to be effective or cost effective. Colgate publishes their SDS which gives and idea of the ingredients in the product. They have not updated the SDS in 4 years and suspect they are trying to obfiscate the active ingredeints in the product but calcium and sodium carbonate...

    (Un)Happy Pool Season!

    1) Backwashing: Are you certain you have proper flow on the backwash? Looking at your black flex hose there appears to be kinks in the hose which will create back pressure and restrict flow, remove constrictions. Pay attention to the little site glass to determine when the DE has existed the...

Pool Leak..... I'm losing my mind

Wish that was correct. As stated in the original post, the previous owner built the pool with Aqua genie skimmers. the return is built into the skimmer. The water level is 4-5 inches below the returns.

Pool Leak..... I'm losing my mind

That was my thinking exactly. So I felt the vinyl linking around the entire pool. The only penetration on the pool at this level is the connection to the stairs. Both the returns and the skimmers are above water. Other possibilities are a crack in the light conduit or in the main drain. I...

Circupool RJ45, low salt and check cell light on

Hi I'm late to this conversation. Another thought on the possible source of the issue. Have you checked the connectors on the head unit and the salt cell? I had issues on my RJ60+ this would not work at startup. I turned the head unit over and noticed corrosion on the connectors. Quick...

Pool Leak..... I'm losing my mind

I have a 40' x 20' inground vinyl lined pool. Shortly after closing last season, I noticed the pool water level dropping underneath my mesh safety cover after inspection the pool would lose water down to about 4-5 inches below the skimmer basket and then stop (oddly almost perfect winterization...

    Triac Based Current Sensing Relay

Hi Everyone, After too much time without a current sensing relay, I finally added one to my system. I know I was living dangerously but life happens and this project fell down the list. Additionally, I struggled with the design limitations of the CR magnetic relays with an operating range of...

Thinking about installing SWG this year, need help with choices

With a VSP and the 45K and a 20K gallon pool, your needs should be easily met. You cannot really go "overkill" with the Circupool units as you can adjust the "output"(quotes cause output is fixed based on the equipment purchased, so the unit runs 5% of the hr) in 5% increment units. The...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

Little background on the function of a SWG. Each SWG only operates at a specific production rate, when the unit is adjusted to 25% the unit goes from a 100% duty cycle. In other words, it runs at 100% for 15min per hour. The only time one can produce chlorine is when the pump is flowing. As...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

Congrats on the new pool liner. Replaced my inground pool liner 18 month ago and just seeing a new liner makes me a proud owner! I suspect your pool water is still clear as you likely filled it late in the year and now opened the pool before the temperature has risen above ~65F when algae can...

Anyone have any ideas on opening this thing before I smash the lid off ?

Some ideas to remove the cap. 1) wedge a short bar into the slot. Use a deadblow to slowly hammer the cap off. 2) Same as above but use an air hammer 3) Blunt chisel or punch and mallet. Place at one edge near thread and hammer around slowly <-- not recommended as the plastic is old and will...

    Circupool question

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the world of SWG pools. I purchased the RJ-60+ prior to the 2019 season for my 35K gallon pool. Overall, my experience has been amazing as my pool remained much cleaner and clear for the first years use. I wou;d have recommended the RJ series due the...

Pool pad plumbing arrangement & thoughts on flexible PVC

I don't hate flex pipe and most here don't seem to either. It serves a purpose in a place and time. The interior wall of the flex pvc has the spiral in it which to prevent the hose from collapsing. The spiral either affects the wall the ID of the flex pipe or increases the resistance along...

Pool pad plumbing arrangement & thoughts on flexible PVC

Would think it's better underground, if the earth shifts or compacts it's likely to move opposed to rigid may just crack.

Pool pad plumbing arrangement & thoughts on flexible PVC

Heater Bypass: Totally agree with Proavia. Wonderful idea to have. Biggest challenge for me would be explaining to my wife how to operate the pool heater by pass valves while I'm traveling for work. If you travel a lot like me, you could have that issue but overall the bypass will some day...

    SWG Ahead of heater

I suspect this is not a good idea. Valve failures mechanical or human can result in a situation of chlorine and hydrogen enter or even build in the heater which will lead to premature equipment death or explosion. Even if a heater bypass is installed, I do not see fitting a check valve, SWG...

vinyl pool, how far can i drain?

You should leave a minimum of 12 inches in the shallowest part of the pool. You need to keep weight on the liner ensuring the liner does not shift or shrink. Additional liner age can impact the liner, if old you may want to be conservative and leave a little extra. High water table can be an...

    Installing SWG ourselves?

Hi Bab's, I have just gone done the same decision tree as you and landed on the Circupool generator and pump. I've only had the unit installed a few weeks but so far it works great along with the 3HP smartflo pump. Salt Water Generator thoughts: Thoughts so far: DIY, RJ series are great in...

    Turnover - Necessary or not?

Hi Joyful, Totally valid points and I agree COMPLETELY. Home vs commercial pools are different animals with different micro loads completely. Commercial pools are much harder to clean and maintain cleanliness. The challenge we'll find in the literature is the best and abundant work will be...

    Turnover - Necessary or not?

Nothing revelatory here and additionally, I'm not recommending anything which could result in harm as my position is more filtration/cleaning and not less. As to filtration cleaning pathogen out of water and pools see my previous citations. But to summarize, DE will give 1 (90%) to 6 (99.9999%)...
