Please review my results / odd FC issue

Hey Shel, I’m in Central Florida with a water temp of 63*. I ended up shutting the SWG off and adjust the FC with bleach. As you have found out, it takes a long time for the FC to drop off and I was in your situation where my SWG was producing too much chlorine, even at 20%.

Rapid drop in FC after adding chemicals

Update:. I had to go out of town for a few days, so being afraid of losing too much chlorine, I added two cups of 10.5% bleach which should have brought the chlorine up 2 ppm to 7.5. Well, at last check, I was at 10 ppm with SWG off. Something must've interfered with the chlorine testing...

Rapid drop in FC after adding chemicals

Thanks. It might just be coincidence. Very strange timing for it to happen which is what raised by concern.

Rapid drop in FC after adding chemicals

Mainly because the chlorine loss thus far from a SLAM recovery has barely been 0.5 loss/day. Then all of a sudden it dropped 2 ppm today with the addition of chemicals. The water temp is 68* and low UV as the pool is in a screened canopy and the sunlight gets filtered through dense trees...

    SWG and too much chlorine

Thanks for all the info. It's just going to be trial and error with pump timing. Of course the prior owners didn't give any helpful info about the pool after buying the house. [emoji849]

    SWG and too much chlorine

Jim, Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the SWCG does not go below 20%, except for off. I've used the SWCG calculator/spreadsheet and came up with about 3.5-4 hours pump run time to match the low chlorine production needed. I wanted to make sure decreasing the pool pump run time that...

    SWG and too much chlorine

Hi all, We have an 8000 gallon pool using a SWG to produce chlorine. The pool water is in total balance. The issue I'm having is even with the chlorinator set at 20% and the pump running 7 hours, I'm getting a surplus it chlorine each day with no drop overnight. I know this is an issue many...

SWG diagnostics and voltages normal, but not generating Cl-

I had this same issue about a month ago in New Smyrna Beach even after shocking. Turned out that my cartridge filter was dirty with dead algae even though the pressure was still normal. This was slowing the flow enough to keep the SWG from producing enough chlorine. I cleaned the filter and...
