    trouble keeping PH in range

Thanks for your posts! BoDarville, the surface of the pool is quartzscape plaster. I also forgot to mention that my spa overflows into the pool, I have learned that this will cause PH to drift up also. I do keep the amount of water that overflows to the pool to a minimum. I will recheck the CH...

    trouble keeping PH in range

Hello everyone! I have a new gunite pool (finished in October 2011) and am having trouble keeping the PH in the desired range, it keeps rising. I am using a SWG for chlorination, my pool is 14,000 gallons and I am using one gallon of muratic acid every two days on average. I use the TF-100 test...

    added salt today

I have finished the start up new plaster procedure and added the recommended amount of salt which dissolved more quickly than I expected. I tested the water and have 3,400 ppm salt. I read that the SWG should stay off for 24 hours, is that necessary or can I turn it on?

    Plaster suggestion

Thank you again. So far I have been able to keep the PH well below 8 (still just the first day). I have some trichlor tablets ready for day three. Once I get chlorine, cya, ch, ta and ph to the desired levels, I assume it will be safe to swim?

    Plaster suggestion

Thank you for the responses. The pool was plastered yesterday 10-21-11. We decided on sparkle quartz, laguna is the name of the color. It is a medium blue. I am new at this and am trying to balance the water according to the start-up instructions. I contracted the pool myself so there is no pool...

    IntelliFlo question

Thanks, I will keep track of the clocks and make sure there is no chance the SWG will be on without the pump.

    IntelliFlo question

What if I use the built in timer on the SWG (the CircuPool RJ30 has a timer)? For example, if I set the pump to come on at 8:00 am and shut off at 2:00 pm I can program the SWG to come on at 8:30 and shut down at 1:30. This would give enough time difference between the two clocks so I won't have...

    startup for new pool

Hello everyone, I am almost finished with my pool and am looking for pointers on how to get started once it has been filled with water. Pool details are: 14,000 gallon gunite Sparkle quartz plaster CircuPool RJ30 SWG IntelliFlow VS-AU pump (variable speed) 8' x 6.5' overflow oval spa with...

    IntelliFlo question

Hello everyone, I am almost finished with my pool build and am in the process of powering up my pumps and SWG. My question is: How do I use the built in timer on my IntelliFlo Variable Speed pump to start and stop my SWG? The manual for the SWG says to use the same timer for the pump and SWG...

    Plaster suggestion

Hello everyone, I am building my pool now and will need to make a decision on what plaster to have applied soon. I like the lagoon look with the dark colored plaster but have a few concerns. I was told that if color is added to regular plaster it will void the warranty so I am looking at the...

    6" or 8"

It looks unanimous, 8" it is. Not too much extra money to do it right. I know it couldn't be repaired for that if it were to crack or break. Thanks for the advice.

    6" or 8"

I am contracting out this pool myself and my plans call for 8". I have gotten several bids and some gunite companies decided to bid the job with 6" and tell me 8" is not necessary. Just trying to make a decision before it is too late.

    6" or 8"

I will start building my inground gunite pool soon and am getting conflicting information about recommended gunite thickness. The pool will be 5' deep at the deepest point with 3/8" rebar on 8" centers. What would you want 6" or 8" of gunite? I know thicker is stronger but is it necessary? The...

    Choosing a pump

Knowing that the spa requires the most flow, would bypassing the filter when using it be a good idea. This would result in less head loss and therefore more flow to the spa. I am thinking about trying it with this one pump at first, I can always add another pump later if the performance of the...

    Choosing a pump

Hello everyone. I will be building a pool soon and need to choose the right pump. The pool will be a sport pool, 3' deep on the ends and 5' deep in the center, about 14,000 gallons. There will be an oval shapped spill over spa 8' by 6'6" (not sure how many gallons), I want plenty of jets. I...

    Spa size?

Thanks everyone! I think mine will be oval, 8' x 6'6". I want it to be comfortable for as many as possible but construction costs and heating cost are a major factor also. I just wonder how many new friends I will have when the pool and spa are up and running.

    Pool Blueprints

Looking at the post date I hope you have gotten an answer by now but I decided to reply anyway. I am in the process of designing my pool and have hired a company online. "Pooldesign.com" they have been very helpful and everything you need to get bids for construction is included. There are other...

    Spa size?

Thanks for the replies, they give me a better idea on what size I need to have. The only thing now is the shape, I was planning on oval but was told that a round shape would be more spacious. I think 6' x 8' for oval will do or about 7'6" diameter for round maybe. Decisions decisions...

    steel pattern question

Hello everyone! I will start my inground pool build soon and have a question about the rebar pattern. I will be contracting out the project myself as I have found the local bids WAY too expensive. One local company claims to use #4 (1/2") rebar on 6" centers for their pools. From what I have...

    Spa size?

Hello everyone! I will be building a new pool and spa soon (my first pool) and am trying to find out what size to build the spa. The shape will be oval, I think a 6 person spa will suit my needs but will consider an 8 person one also. What should the size be for an oval shaped spa for 6 or 8...
