(03/14/21 Update!) Bubbles in pump basin and return when and only when vacuuming.

I run hose vs pvc and they are as tight as they can be. I've replaced the pump basket o-ring. I've tightened the drain plug(s). Could there be anything with the results of the hose test I did earlier in the post? Could the lid of the pump itself be bad?

(03/14/21 Update!) Bubbles in pump basin and return when and only when vacuuming.

I want to finish dealing with this before the season starts. Back then I replaced the o-ring and the issue remained. I need this problem to go away as eventually the bubbles really start to accumulate and without intervention I believe the pump would lose it's prime. Is there an internal issue...

Felt filter eh? Link? Are the results still holding good?

UPDATE(x2)! Help troubleshoot dirt in pool, here's what I have done...

Try adding DE as shown in the how to section on the site. I added some last week as directed and I can tell a difference. It's not that expensive and if done right, won't hurt and it can only help. Be sure to rinse after you vacuum but not backwash.

UPDATE(x2)! Help troubleshoot dirt in pool, here's what I have done...

I replaced the MPV and added DE, and I am having the same issue. I followed the steps for adding DE so that went fine. I am wondering if this is environmental. It's always at least a little windy, and I have trees all around and lots of neighbors. Like mowing and such. The filter/pump sat off...

Thinking of switching to DE from sand filter...can I keep pump?

The pump to filter fitting is at the bottom of the DE filters, and my pump the out bound is on top of the pump. Spacing seems to be an issue if the pump and filter are on the same stand. Hopefully that makes sense and that’s my concern.

UPDATE(x2)! Help troubleshoot dirt in pool, here's what I have done...

I ordered a new MPV assembly. Between that and the lateral which I already replaced, those are really the only two things that make up the filter system right? I know I could replace individual components inside of the MPV but I have more money than time.

UPDATE(x2)! Help troubleshoot dirt in pool, here's what I have done...

Here's an update while I wait on the DE. This morning the pool bottom was completely clear. Turned on the pump and within 5 minutes there was dirt everywhere on the pool bottom. I should have taken a picture. I put a sock over the return and after 15 minutes of vacuuming I got it cleaned up. I...

Thinking of switching to DE from sand filter...can I keep pump?

I am thinking of upgrading to a DE filter, probably Hayward. Haven't done the research on specifics yet for 13,000 gallon AGP. Anyways, as you can see the current filter and pump sit on the black pedestal stand. Am I able to use my existing pump with a different kind of filter? Do they make...

UPDATE(x2)! Help troubleshoot dirt in pool, here's what I have done...

TF-100. It’s not dead algae. Even if it was, vacuuming it up would be the end of it. I just opened the pool, SLAMed, passed the test. Water has been clear from the start. I’ve had this same issue since I got the pool in 2017 to be honest. You don’t find it odd that for 24 hours nothing is on the...

UPDATE(x2)! Help troubleshoot dirt in pool, here's what I have done...

I've been trying to figure this out over the last year or more. I notice after vacuuming my pool, I get dirt on the bottom after I resume normal filtration. For example, yesterday I vacuumed my pool, left the pump running for a few minutes before turning it off and unseating the lid in the...

What's coming out of my return? (under water videos)

I will have to look into this! So far I have backwashed every time I vacuum and the water is crystal clear coming from the return on start up and no sediment on the pool floor. I know this is not how it's supposed to be. Is there a physical issue with the filter somewhere, or this just a thing?

How long can yellow algae live outside the pool?

Thank you! It's actually just the removable handrails so should be easier to clean.

How long can yellow algae live outside the pool?

Just finished up the 24 hour high FC hold after completing SLAM. I realized that a part of my pool steps were removed to be able to move the stairs out of the way of deep cleaning. A part of the handles were exposed to algae water and should have probably been sanitized in the pool. I can’t find...

What's coming out of my return? (under water videos)

Backwashes after vacuuming today and water was clear on pump start up. No sediment in pool a few hours later. So if the sand is new, what else could be causing dirt to be allowed back in the pool?

What's coming out of my return? (under water videos)

Yes and yes. I actually replaced the lateral thinking it was letting stuff back in the pool. The old one looked fine but I changed it out anyways. New one was obviously fine as well.

What's coming out of my return? (under water videos)

Yup, it was sand that I seed suggested on this site several times. And yes I passed all 3 tests. Like I said, these little spots of sediment have been showing up since the beginning. I manually vacuum every day and it ends up right back on the pool floor

What's coming out of my return? (under water videos)

The sand is brand new, as of 1.5 months ago if that. I've had this stuff in the bottom of my pool since I got the pool last year. I'm seeing just shy of 20 psi, and after a backwash it might go down a few ticks. Weirdly enough, when the pump is off, I still show some pressure on the gauge. When...

What's coming out of my return? (under water videos)

After manually vacuuming, I turn off the pump to unseat the skimmer box lid. Then I kick the pump on, and this is what I see. If I backwash after I vacuuming, then I don't see this. I do find what I believe is sediment on the pool floor shortly after the pump kicks on. Links for videos showing...

SLAM question and general algae question

It's the FAS-DPD kit. I bought it at intheswim and it showed up as the Taylor K-2006 on the site but when it got delivered it has Leslies on it but still days FAS-DPD. I bought it before I knew this website was created or else I would have bought the TF-100!

SLAM question and general algae question

I don't want to run it less, I just don't want to burn the motor out. Maybe they are built to run 24/7, I just would want to give it a break I guess. I haven't stopped it yet, going on 36 hours. I am using a test kit similar to the one sold here. It has Leslies Pool on the front but all the...

SLAM question and general algae question

So algae can start even when the FC as it should be? I'm guessing the answer is no, unless you fail to clean dark places like under a pool floor mat.

SLAM question and general algae question

Noticed some "junk" in the bottom of the pool the other day before I left for a 24 hour trip. FC level was normal, no CC. Topped off the FC to 6 (CYA is 30). When I came back the junk had become more widespread. Also noticed a yellow hue on the bottom of the pool. Nothing on the walls. FC was...

(Update) Sand (dirt?) in pool, any other cause besides busted lateral/lateral assembly?

Today was the first time I backwashed after changing the lateral and sand. Followed up with a 30ish second rinse. I only did the backwash and rinse just to see if it would prevent sediment from coming back in the pool which it did not.

(Update) Sand (dirt?) in pool, any other cause besides busted lateral/lateral assembly?

It’s fresh sand from when I put in the new lateral umbrella assembly. I also noticed a bit ago upon inspecting the socks, I saw little blades of grass and little shards from the sand imbedded in the inside fabric of the sock. Meaning it only could have come from the return jet.
