How do we know when it’s completely gone? When it will hold a chlorine level?

We mistakenly added 4lbs of YellowOut to our salt water pool and now can’t keep the levels up. Is the only option to drain the pool? Will the sun deplete the yellow out? If so, how long does that normally take? Can we shock it out?
