Looking for advice on how to deal with PebbleFina installed poorly

Background: Plaster (PebbleFina) was installed when it was 112F outside and not filled with water fast enough. Day one it looked terrible. I immediately contacted the contractor who said it's normal and will even out. This never happened. Spa developed cracks. Again was told this was normal...

Robotic cleaners not good for SoCal?

Thanks for all the comments. I have a dedicated vacuum line, but stopped using it when I purchased the robot. First couple months, I was amazed at how clean the pool was. I ran it right after the last vacuum cycle and it certainly picked up more dirt than my old one ever did. My concern is that...

Robotic cleaners not good for SoCal?

Based on the many glowing reviews here and other websites about the robotic cleaners, I purchased a Maytronics Dolphin Explorer e30 about 6 months ago. It only goes in the pool when I'm using it, and I clean it every time it's used. It's been working great until the recent Santa Ana winds. For...

Pump not moving much water after high winds dump dirt in my pool

Clogged impeller! I had figured it was most likely a pump issues, but I didn't think of something so simple as a clog. Didn't think anything would last very long on something spinning that fast. I was wrong. Reached in there and pulled out a chunk of debris. Water moving swiftly again. Pump...

Pump not moving much water after high winds dump dirt in my pool

For those of you that have lived in Southern California know, we get yearly high winds around this time of the year. Usually, it means some leaves in the pool and a lot of dirt at the bottom of the pool. Usually, I let the pool cleaner do its work and then I clean the filters. I can always tell...

Another black algae thread - confirming plan

This morning found two or three small blobs of the black algae. Brushed again. Overnight test showed a FC drop of about 2, so I'll keep FC high today. The dog didn't die for lack of swimming yesterday, so I think she can make it another day. FC dropped 8 during the day yesterday. I noticed the...

Another black algae thread - confirming plan

I can change it there temporarily, but it doesn't save. I know what the target is, it's just a minor annoyance I can't change it permanently. True words. It's definitely her pool!

Another black algae thread - confirming plan

Thanks for the response! Hmm...I was going off the Pool Math target of 3. I am now learning there is more to it than that. For 2 years 3 worked great. No algae. It wasn't until they did the acid wash that algae started showing up. And this included a full drain and refill twice within 4 months...

Another black algae thread - confirming plan

I have the start of black algae in my SWG pool. Noticed on the Baja step under about 18" of water. A little bit on the first step down, but don't think I have any on the walls or bottom of the pool. I've read through a number of threads here and think I have a plan. I will admit I went to the...

My salt water build in Southern California

It's a poured in place concrete border. It wasn't exactly what we wanted, meaning the profile isn't what we would have picked. But they didn't ask and we forgot to tell them. Oops. But I think it still looks nice. I'm so close to having the bench done. Hopefully tomorrow if everything goes as...

My salt water build in Southern California

The pool didn't have any cracks, but I assume the poor aesthetics are due to the heat and lack of water. I'm going to have a Pebble Tec rep come out and look at it. We have two labradoodles. One hates the water, the other lives in it. She swims a good 2-3 hours every day. Even when the water is...

    New Plaster Cracks

I never saw it dry out completely, but yes, there is a warranty as you said.

My salt water build in Southern California

Oh no! The spa has cracks. We think it's because they applied the Pebble when it was very hot and the spa went a couple days before it had water. This was fun to deal with. The plaster company wanted to patch. Long story short, we fought them for a while and they finally caved. Had to tear out...

    New Plaster Cracks

They removed the Pebble completely from the spa and reapplied it. The surface looks great now. No cracks and no discoloration. Will it stay that way? I hope so.

    New Plaster Cracks

The water certainly affected the gunite. It's hard to tell though, because the removal of the pebble isn't super clean. It doesn't leave a surface like when the gunite was new. But the areas where it was wet and muddy is definitely from water under the pebble.

Pebble Fina - Is this normal?

    It's Pebble Fina Grigio. - - - Updated - - - I think the finish looks like a friends pool that's 10 years old and showing it's age. Except it's brand new.

My salt water build in Southern California

My pool was finished end of last summer, but thought I'd post some photos of the build. Pool is about geometric 20' x 40', 7' deep on the deep end. Some cutouts to make it fit the yard. Baja step with umbrella sleeve. Spa is 7' x 7'. Three waterfalls on separate pump. Natural stone coping...

    New Plaster Cracks

I don't have the same surface, but we had cracks like that in our new spa with Pebble Fina last summer. We were also told it was normal. When we pressed they tried to patch it and told us the 5 year warranty would cover it. We pressed further and told them 5 years wasn't the normal life of the...

Pebble Fina - Is this normal?

Here are the pool photos: - - - Updated - - - I should point out it looked like this from the very beginning. This isn't discoloration due to bad water chemistry. I was told it would mellow out as it cures, but it hasn't changed at all. Still not happy with the look.

Pebble Fina - Is this normal?

Built our pool last summer. We are in Southern California and it was extremely hot when they put in the Pebble Fina. I knew it could have some variation in color, but what we got is very splotchy. Pool contractor said it's normal, so I didn't complain much. Then, they had to redo the spa because...

Hello TFP! Built a new pool last summer and opened it end of August. Overall dimensions are 20' x 40' semi-rectangle, with cutouts to fit the lot and a Baja step. The pool contractor said it's about 17,000 gallons, but I think it's a bit more. 7' x 7' spa. Salt system. All Hayward. Hayward...
