    Modern Pool Build in Houston

Excavation complete! Just in time for the storms to fill it up. I was planning on porcelain pavers for the deck and coping, but when I looked at them outside and stepped on them yikes they were hot. The white limestone on the other hand was super cool. So I will do the limestone for the...

    Modern Pool Build in Houston

    Modern Pool Build in Houston

Yes, I know how the majority of people here feel about UV systems. I had an SWG last time around, lugging the salt bags was no fun just as I am sure that lugging chlorine pucks is no fun. In the old pool I was always adding CYA, salt, and muriatic acid. I am going to try out the...

    Modern Pool Build in Houston

We have moved to a new house and are starting our 2nd pool build. The first one at the prior house was a nightmare, with the builder asking for money ahead of schedule, saying they would show up but then not showing, etc. until they went bankrupt. So far the process this time around has been...

    New Pool in Richmond, TX

What did you end up using for your decking? I have been looking at the porcelain pavers but in the sun they are hot.

Pool backwash is draining into our septic, advice please!

I did have the backwash line removed and connected to a drain which goes down to the street. I guess there is apparently a belly in the septic line and they need to replace it. Has anyone ever heard of DE settling and becoming hard like mortar? We will see what is really going on when they...

Pool backwash is draining into our septic, advice please!

We have a large IG pool that is about 3 years old, as is our septic system. After having problems with our toilets/showers not draining twice in the past 6 months, we had it roto rootered and a camera put down our sewer line and they saw that there was a mortar like substance partially blocking...

    Algae growing in rock waterfall

Wow chem geek, you're fast! Thanks for the peace of mind. I will add bleach to the pools and add borates to the whole pool as well. I was hesitant to run the waterfall more often because the builder has it on a separate 5 HP pump and I was afraid it was an energy hog. Do you think running it...

    Algae growing in rock waterfall

I just did the FAS-DPD test and the CC result was 0.5. Is shocking necessary or should I just add some algaecide to the pools in the rock waterfall?

    Algae growing in rock waterfall

I have green algae growing in the "pools" of water in my rock waterfall. I do not see any algae in the pool yet. The waterfall runs for 1/2 hr each night. I have an SWG. My latest test results using the kit recommended is: pH 7.8 ( I just added some acid after this result) Cl 2 CYA 50-60 TA...

Infloor cleaner not enough- alternate cleaner suggestions?

Re: Infloor cleaner not enough- alternate cleaner suggestion The skimmers only clear part of the leaves, the rest fall to the bottom before they make it to the skimmers. It takes me a good 2 hrs to scoop it out with the leaf rake. The problem with the infloor cleaner is that it leaves sand in...

Infloor cleaner not enough- alternate cleaner suggestions?

Re: Infloor cleaner not enough- alternate cleaner suggestion How much leaves/acorns will the blue diamond hold as compared to the polaris? It doesn't seem to me like very much debris would fit inside the robot.
