Ok then, no draining required. Regular SLAM. Carry on.

If the pool is a swamp you might want to consider another drain and refill.

    Endless small bugs in pool

I dont want to hijack the OP’s thread. This is about killing springtails for which we have given him a working solution. If you want to have a deeper discussion around pest control I suggest you start a thread in TLF under their pest control section. You will get a lot of great advice there.

    Endless small bugs in pool

So I need to look for that article, but in full disclosure it was around a treatment for whitefly which is another pest I have to deal with much more than springtails. They talked about the synergistic effect and I used it for a whitefly treatment and it worked incredibly well. Long story...

You want to take care of ants, use Fipronil. Once application should handle them for a season.

What did you do to your pool today?

If 30-50 is good, the 77 I put in must be amazing!!!!. If it keeps my pH more stable more than worth the price, especially if I avoid scaling on the cell. My dog is soooo afraid of the pool, not worried about her drinking from it. And she always has a nice bowl of water on the deck. Besides...

    Endless small bugs in pool

Using any of these is not switching it up. All are Group 3 insecticides and use the MOA. Acephate is a group 1 and any synthetic pyrethroids are group 3. The combination of these two separate insecticides has a synergistic effect. Springtails are a difficult beast. And now you have a large...

    Endless small bugs in pool

Always read the label. I use the turfgrass rate which will be around 1oz per gallon which is the same rate I use for Bifen (the ingredient in Talstar). Tank mix the two. Each gallon should cover 1000 sq ft. Spray as much area as you can. Mulch, grass, deck, etc. Springtails come from moist areas...

DIY PH measurement and CO2 Injection System- Project Summary

I would really consider borates. I have been getting scaling in my SWG even with a negative CSI. The borates are supposed to help with that. I just dumped a bunch of borates in yesterday and I am going away for about two weeks. I will let you know how that works when I get back.

What did you do to your pool today?

Got a low salt indicator on my SWG. Added two bags of salt. Inspected the cell and there was a bunch of scaling. Picked off most of it with a bbq skewer (my answer for everything). A little concerned about the scaling even with a negative CSI. Going to drop my TA to 60. Then I am going to dump...

    A new fur-baby has arrived …

We got our new edition just after the new year. She was a rescue from a barn, just turned 1 this past weekend. Still a puppy and trying to eat the house.

Or, you could just buy a FC sensor probe. https://sensorex.com/product/fcl-amperometric-free-chlorine-sensor/?srsltid=AfmBOorl80_m14a0Vk34PSItvRn62s2vRX7qVoIPKus5ohID00VDD1dB

Only one small drawback. How does it empty the basket? Still need to do that.

    Intelliflo VSF

I think the easiest thing is to just get over it. Make sure whatever RPM you set is enough to keep the flow for the SWG. Removing the pump from automation just seems counterintuitive.

    Copper algaecide recommendations?

Hmmm. The Hydrazzo seems intriguing. Going to have to put that in the memory bank for when I need to replaster my pool in 10-15 years. This is important, and becomes difficult to fathom as you raise your CYA. Once you are free and clear of all algae I recommend that you up the CYA level to 70...

    Copper algaecide recommendations?

The method described by @PoolStored is the one I recommend. You dont need a special wand or anything. But you will need a mask and snorkel. Get in your pool and blast those spots away. It’s oddly satisfying. Then you need to attack the freshly blasted spots with high dose LC. Either use a...

What did you do to your pool today?

I have a magic pool. It eats CYA. I am thinking about offering a service to rid pools of high CYA water. Bring your water here and take as much as you want for a low fee. But seriously my pool uses a lot of CYA. Pool water gets hot here in the summer which causes it to degrade faster. We also...

What did you do to your pool today?

Rinsed out the filter from the SeaKlear treatment (definitely white milky stuff ran out) and ran the M500 a few times to clean out all that stuff. Pool is nice and sparkly again, and potentially less phosphates. Not that I really care about that but I already had the stuff so might as well use...

What did you do to your pool today?

Well the pool was looking too sparkly. You know that TFP clear we love. So I added 3oz of SeaKlear phosphate remover. Now it’s nice and cloudy.
