7 Seasons on an RJ60+ - Shows Check Cell and Low Salt (it's not)

Good point. I'm probably making a LOT less chlorine over 7 years than someone in Texas would be. Not just that I'm closed for 6+ months, but it's colder overall.

7 Seasons on an RJ60+ - Shows Check Cell and Low Salt (it's not)

So I called Circupool just to see if the 7 year prorating warranty was in year 7 or the first 7 years (if that makes sense). I'm just a few weeks outside the warranty I think, but they're giving me 20% off anyway which is what the warranty would've been, so I'm just gonna go ahead and order that...

7 Seasons on an RJ60+ - Shows Check Cell and Low Salt (it's not)

It appears I have the same thing you do. I went out today to grab the S/N and it was perfectly happy again. No lights at all. Probably the shutoff overnight kinda reset it I guess. I took a picture, I don't see anything at all really, looks pretty good to me. Maybe I'll let it limp through the...

7 Seasons on an RJ60+ - Shows Check Cell and Low Salt (it's not)

I did an acid bath two years ago when this happened and was able to get some more time out of it. Is there a way to tell if it's time to actually replace it, or if I can just acid bath it again and get some more time out of it? Is there a better time of year to replace it? Like, should I just...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

All fuses are one and done, by definition :). I tried to look up how it works, I'm assuming that fuse just gets super hot from the flame touching it, and melts internally?

For anyone swinging by, I'm 99% sure it's actually the flame rollout switch, and that's what it's supposed to look like.

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

Ok, update. I fixed it (99% sure this time). It wasn't the IID, the new one I got from ebay ($38) showed the same dead short, but I put it in anyway. It must not be a true a short, just when it doesn't have power it shows that, probably an inductor or transformer or something. But now I have a...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

The IID, while disconnected from the board, shows a dead short between the 24V hot and 24V ground pins. I'm guessing that's the issue. The only fix then is to replace that spark controller, but I think that's like $250+? Not worth it I assume. The entire thing is rusty and in pretty rough shape...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

The headers are the metal things that the pipe connects to outside the heater? And continuity between them and a ground on say the gas valve is good or bad? Not sure I fully followed, sorry. I am an electrical engineer but it's not my day to day, lol, and certainly not pool heaters.

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

Ordered a replacement for the amazon transformer, since it was slightly cracked on the plastic housing when it got here, maybe it had some damage that killed it after a bit. I don't see any signs of damage on the board, IID, or gas valve. There's a burned spot on one of the 24V leads, but it's...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

Yeah, it was a 40VA 240V/24V (although it tested out at about 28V but I think that's fine under no load). I couldn't find the VA on the old one, but it was Class 2 so I assume probably 40VA as well. Maybe I undersized it though. Do you know where I can find the specs somewhere? The Raypak listed...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

@1poolman1 ok, so that was short lived. Something killed it again after less than a day. I assume the transformer again. Any ideas where I should start troubleshooting what's killing the transformer? I assume it must be something shorting occasionally? Or maybe the transformer is overheating due...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

It was literally $20, lol. 24V transformer died. $18 on Amazon and less than an hour total to diagnose and repair and I'm back in business. I have 2 sheet metal screws left over, but you can't win them all. Hopefully it'll soldier on another year. I've already done the board, low pressure...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

This heater has somehow been soldiering on despite its age, but we decided to finally stop using it intermittently and instead just keep the pool at temperature for a while. I went out today to check on it and it's dead, no power light despite other things on the same circuit having power...

Where does my CYA go in the winter?

This year I was late opening, looks like my app says May 9, water temp was still 56 though. Closed November 14th. And yes to the rest.

Where does my CYA go in the winter?

Yeah, I follow that too. I end up with a decent bit of plant matter and worms under the cover, not to mention just dirt (mesh style cover), enough that it eventually eats up all the FC I think just from being dirty. I've started trying to run the robot after closing until it starts to freeze...

Where does my CYA go in the winter?

I suppose I could use my fish tank kit to test for nitrates, lol. I don't seem to have high demand at opening. I probably need to do a better job figuring out how to keep my FC up over the winter.

Where does my CYA go in the winter?

thanks. I think I remember reading that before now. Is there a way to tell if it's ammonia or just normal degradation over the winter?

Where does my CYA go in the winter?

After the winter, my salt, for example, will be at maybe 30-50% of where it was when I started closing, due to pumping out for closing and pumping out for the winter rains and snows. However, every year my CYA is at 0, or as near to 0 as I can measure. Despite starting at 80. I'd expect it to...

What are my options for fixing plumbing for this new pump that doesn't quite fit?

It's still basically permanent either way, once I glue something to that nipple. No? I could leave the threads on the nipple and be able to adapt still, but that's getting quite long, and I already barely have room for the 1.5" npt, 1.5 - 2 reduce, 2" union before I hit the other side of the...

Fair point. I guess maybe I'll just go straight for the glue then.

What are my options for fixing plumbing for this new pump that doesn't quite fit?

Thanks. I might try building it up with a regular sch 40 adapter, and if that still leaks after drying the PVC I'll glue it in.

What are my options for fixing plumbing for this new pump that doesn't quite fit?

I don't remember if the other one was bottomed out or not. It was longer though, I forgot about DWV differences. I'll try to swing by the pool store today and get a proper fitting with the longer threads and hope that works to stop the leak.

What are my options for fixing plumbing for this new pump that doesn't quite fit?

Turned out not too bad. Had to avoid a union on the pressure side, but it wasn't terrible. I do have a very small leak from the multiport where I put my new piece. I think maybe it's cracked? I didn't tighten anything more than hand plus a smidge, and only hand until it was leaking. The crack...

What are my options for fixing plumbing for this new pump that doesn't quite fit?

I meant Pureline instead of the VGreen 165, for the existing pump. The pictures don't show the old pump, just the new Calimar 3HP. Yeah, I suppose dropping it down might get it too close to the sand/dirt/water in the pool house.

What are my options for fixing plumbing for this new pump that doesn't quite fit?

Sorry, I meant Pureline Prime VSP 1.65 from INYO. If I can't dig the paver down enough, I'll try your solution on the outside of the valve, makes sense to clean it up.
