I did add sequestrant yesterday evening cause I didn't want to wait to long so I just did it. It looks better this morning but I still need some more. I didnt want to over do it. I just wanted to make sure that it was possible for the rain to cause this and not something else. Once again Thanks...

Just by guessing I would say 2-3 inches between last night and today. Raised my pool level about 4 inches til it was overflowing through the skimmer.

    Rain turned pool orange !!!!

I just filled it the other day (well water) and when I added chlorine it turned orange so I added a metal sequestrant. That cleared it up so yesterday I shocked it with bleach and it was fine late yesterday evening. We got a big rain today and it turned it orange again. Does rain have metals in...

    Starting from scratch again.

i forgot to lower the pH before I put the metal sequestrant. Should I do that now or wait til tomorrow? And did I just waste the sequestrant or will it still work with the pH at 7.7?

    Starting from scratch again.

you read my mind about the chlorine and CYA. I was wondering about just what you said as I was typing it. I am planning on getting a good test kit but these past two weeks hasn't been a good time. I don't care for that pool stores test methods because they use a test strip and put it in a...

I just replaced my 1 month old liner and I have it full againas of yesterday. Last start up I shocked right away and turned the pool orange from metals and got a few stains from that. So my question is to avoid any more stains to my skimmer and ladder should I do the metal out first and then...

You read my mind. I am assuming I can use it as a patch? What kind of glue/adhesive do you use that sets up underwater?

    Torn Liner. Need advice.

Called the place this morning and explained what is going on and the guy said "no problem. I have one left here", so my wife went got it. They didn't even go look at the old one, nor do they want the old one back. Now I just have to change it out. :( Sucks but at least I didn't have to buy one.

    Torn Liner. Need advice.

Never installed a patch before so I am not sure but the tear (liner pulled apart) is about 8" long. It is pulled so much that I can lift it up and see the coving so I doubt a patch will help. I can also see about two feet in either direction that it looks like it is coming apart. I think I am...

    Sodium Hypochlorite

I know you were giving the simplified version, but I just had to act like I know something. LOL !!! I just wrote that post cause most people I explain that to find it quite interesting how you get those three products from salt water. Thanks for the post. I think I understand about the SWG. I...

    Sodium Hypochlorite

In case anyone is interested the chlorine, sodium hydroxide (caustic) and hydrogen are all produced at the same time in the same cell. Caustic comes out the bottom as a liquid, chlorine and hydrogen come out the top as a gas but they are seperate. The hydrogen and sodium hydroxide are produced...

    Help Please !!!

I think the CYA is pretty close because the pool store tested it about a week ago and it was showing 25 so I added a little stabilizer. So i feel like I am OK there. I sure hope it is not white water mold because it looks like it is a PAIN to get rid of. If anyone has any ideas on getting rid of...

    Help Please !!!

I am a new pool owner and I have a problem. I have something whiteish in color, kinda looks like cotton balls pulled apart that settles out in the bottom. When I vaccum or brush it they go away but then settle back out after a while. I use the Pool Frog system right now (but I am getting rid of...
