    Weir door question

i dont really have anything to add, but i am curious how it turns out. To isolate the skimmer, did you turn pump off, then add dye to the area to see if there was movement???

Help me understand the iron staining process?

i put mine in fairly loosely but fill the skimmer basket full. i keep pump running 2200-2600 when filtering so the poly essentially gets pulled down into the skimmer. could be problematic if your basket not fitting right. you could try the return type filter, or run a separate sump type pump and...

Pleading for help after AA treatment

iam struggling with the same. I tried the metal magic after the AA and also getting recurrent staining. pH never above 7.2. If you are concerned about the poly in the skimmers, you can try the bouffant style surgical hats and place the poly in that

Help me understand the iron staining process?

it sounds like you are on the right track. Its a constant battle with high iron wel water. Filter the well water best you can will help alot. i didnt have much luck with the hose end filter as it seemed to let alot of iron through. Have had better luck with my home made set up using 1 micron...

    Money pit is poop brown

I agree with "joyful noise" on checking the sand filter. i found mine was full of "rust: (have owned house/pool 2 years now) could literally see the brown particles come out the returns after backwashing etc. T he sand filter deep cleaning process discussed in TFP was quite easy and removed an...

i feel your pain, i deal with very high well water iron. i have had best luck with pulling stuffing out of the cheapest wallyworld pillows and running pool water through a bucket layered with paper towels, stuffing, and cotton towels. i also use a home made slime bag with 1 micron biodiesel...

Very cloudy blue pool. Need advice

is there any chance "something" is lurking in the deep end bottoms? i.e. leaves, pine needles , night crawlers. I had similar problem opening last spring. when i could finally see bottom, there was a lot of crud. took a lot of stirring it up with the brush to get things moving through the filter.

    What's your favorite pool gadget?

i'm not sure if this is a gadget, but using bouffant style surgical hats as a "pre" filter in my skimmer basket catches an amazing amount of debris before it gets to the sand filter. And very easy disposal
