Opening a DE filter to inspect but not clean...

Well in case anyone finds this post in the future... As most of my knowledge has come from researching on this site: I let everything run awhile and the tiny bubbles did dissipate and no longer an issue. DE has cleared up from that initial cloud. Vacuumed and brushed and open for business...

How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

Whoa Ice! What's that? Newdude: Thanks. Too bad has a huge crack in the wall between the spa and pool. I really love this pool but it is in big need of a re-plaster. Wife says last thing we spend big money on, doing the kitchen remodel right now. Caulk seems to works on cracks in an...

How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

Well clear enough that you can see all the stains on my very old plaster. Rehabilitation one year at a time. Have appreciated the guidance. Jake

Opening a DE filter to inspect but not clean...

Well I am done. Boy am I slow and methodical... or maybe just slow... I think I reinstalled the grids correctly... pictures 2 & 3... I used the tutorial from jblizzle. Also few more questions. In the first picture, seems like a lot of wasted DE settled on the bottom, is that from my...

Opening a DE filter to inspect but not clean...

Thanks James, that is a logical point. I suppose any air bubbles or filter leaks would be apparent immediately upon start up. I guess my question was too hypothetical. I just know a cartridge filter you can take the top off and put it back, I was wondering if it was the same for DE, open it...

Opening a DE filter to inspect but not clean...

Thanks for the reply Jim. All or nothing, if I just cleaned it? I guess what I am asking is not like a month down the road but literally I assembly it and add DE and then if there is an air leak or something I have to take the NEW DE off the grids and literally reapply?

Opening a DE filter to inspect but not clean...

Morning everyone and happy coming swim season! I am going to breakdown and clean my DE Pentair FNS Plus 60 today for the first time on my own. I have had assistance with pool guys in the past, but I realize it is pretty simple. I have a question that I can't find online or through the forum...

Anyone ever seen this? Odd light behavior.

Gotcha. Yeah I just jumped in and no water in there at all. But air still comes out whenever I tap on the bulb. Not sure where is it coming from. Light still works. I'll just keep an eye on it I suppose. Thanks.

Pentair Solar Touch trying to start at odd times.

I have had this same problem with the Solar Touch. Solar installers replaced whole circuit board within unit, but it still does it. Like you said the solar seems as if it is trying to override the schedule. No one really knows what else to do. Glitchy they suppose. It doesn't do it that often.

Anyone ever seen this? Odd light behavior.

Guiness, Thanks for the reply. No I cannot see water in the light. A pool guy showed me what to look for and he doesn't think there is water in there either. Like fixture is as old as the pool, 30 plus years maybe. I have only been here 4. As in replace the whole light assembly? I have...

Anyone ever seen this? Odd light behavior.

James: Thanks for the info and link. That would explain the air bubbles, but what do you think is causing that thing in the video where water is "puffing" out?

Anyone ever seen this? Odd light behavior.

Hello, I've attached a video, but if it doesn't work I will try to explain best I can. I have noticed bubbles coming from my light housing ever once in awhile. Mainly when the kids play around it and force water near the house and a few bubbles come up. But like all the time, so where is...

What temporary fix caulk/epoxy/filler recommend for crack?

So if anybody cares to know I went forward with my attempt at the crack band-aid. I wasn't going for looks as this is just to prolong the solution. I purchased Atlas pool epoxy, but then a pool boy recommended this and I liked the idea that it was elastic. Chemlink M-1 (White) Structural...

What temporary fix caulk/epoxy/filler recommend for crack?

Hi gx, Thanks for the tip, I was looking at that too and think I may go with it over AB compound seeing as Atlas is more pool oriented. I was hope someone would chime in about using silicone or something similar. My concern is that this crack with probably spread and once epoxy is set from what...

What temporary fix caulk/epoxy/filler recommend for crack?

Hey everybody! Before anything, thanks in advance. I am in need a of re plaster. I know photos aren’t good, but just to give you idea. One major problem is a crack in between my spa and pool. Water can leak each way (into the pool or into the spa) and it drains within the dividing wall as I...

Test Kit Recommendation - Less Tests Than TF-100

Hey no worries my TF-100 refills just arrived last night and I too waited over two years. Question for anyone: how do you keep your TF-100 hardware clean now going on a few seasons? Safe to use soap and water to rinse them out once in awhile? Or just rinse with tap? Thanks, Jake

    Degrading plaster questions

Hi Allen, Thanks for your input and I appreciate it. I never thought about that with the thin second layer, it does look like that on the stairs, but the stuff I gouged out in the first two photos, and then also by the main drain there is a 3/4" deep divot that don't look like the same...

    Degrading plaster questions

Hi all, This started in another thread about treating algae with bad plaster, but now I just have plaster questions. I have a few photos and my plaster is in pretty rough shape. My main question I am looking for advice is how long I can go until I really need it done, I just dropped money on...
